It’s a month out from the start of the Dodgers’ 2017 regular season. Do you know where your SportsNet LA channel might be?

Any optimistic plans to expand distribution for the team-owned 24/7 network continues to be in a contradictory holding pattern, even as outside forces mount that some predict will ultimately break the stalemate that began four years ago.

Charter Communications, which bought out Time Warner Cable last year and was ready to take a fresh approach at negotiations, concedes it does not anticipate any sort of revived agreement in the near future with any more cable or satellite companies – particularity as it pertains to getting AT&T/DirecTV on board.

AT&T UVerse carries Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area (CSNBA) throughout Northern California.

Home of the Giants.

But you have to buy UVerse 200 service to get it, NO exceptions. $125 with taxes and fees per month.

It’s the only reason I have a TV and Cable TV service.

I want to buy my favorite team ala carte. MLB is a monopoly, and a Congressionally Certified monopoly at that. Cant fight that.

The rights to carry the games (at least 150 per year) cost at least $500mil for the secondary carrier.

CSNBA probably pays the Giants and MLB at least $5bil for a 5 year right.

I’ve learned to enjoy MLB Tonight in lieu of Dodger telecasts—Greg Amsinger and various sidekicks. Still get highlights.
