MELANIA TRUMP, first lady of the United States, and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump, wore lavish and stylish outfits to watch the presidents first address to a joint session of congress last night.
However, the two glamorous women were widely criticised for their outfit choices, which were branded inappropriate after social media commenters noted the hefty price tag of the extravagant garments.
Melania Trump wore an outfit from Michael Kors Spring 2017 collection that retails for $10,000, or over £8,800.
The black skirt was cinched in at the waist with a wide black belt with a square buckle, while the fabric was adorned with black sequin embellishment.
The Floral-Embroidered Stretch Pebble-Crepe Dinner Jacket costs for $4,995 (£4,037.61), and the skirt costs $4,595 (£3,714.28).
Ivanka Trump wore a relatively modestly priced $2,995 (£2,420.95) Roland Mouret dress, in an orchid pink shade with an off-the-shoulder silhouette.
Mourets site describes Ivankas gown as an easy choice for that evening affair when you think you have nothing to wear, while Kors vision for Melanias outfit reads: Shaped, slit and exquisitely embellished sexy this season is sly.
The American designers description of his black ensemble certainly suits the image that the public felt Melania Trump was channelling last night - that of Joan Collins in dynasty.
Her character was Alexis Carrington, the beautiful and vengeful ex-wife of tycoon Blake Carrington.
One Twitter user wrote: Melania is dressed like Joan Collins in Dynasty. #JointSession.
Another said: The last time I saw a sparkly suit like that, Joan Collins was wearing it on Dynasty????
One Twitter user said of Ivanka Trumps ensemble: I keep thinking that someone should tell @IvankaTrump that her bra strap is showing (imo the dress is inappropriate) #JointSession.
Another said: @IvankaTrump Show respect for the institutions of our democracy. Your dress is fine for cocktails but not for a joint session of Congress.
They both looked TERRIFIC!!!
That’s a nice picture of barefoot Patrick Ewing signaling touchdown!
I just looked it up.
She is 5’ 11” tall.
Wow!
So Melania’s skirt and top cost less than Hillary’s white horse blanket jacket that she wore for her acceptance speech at the Democrat convention which cost $12,500. While I’d prefer Our First Lady would wear less black (her blue on Inauguration was lovely), I can understand why she may be in mourning as she is berated by the ugly media every time she goes out.
PLEASE NOTE ... Melania still does not have “toned arms”. No, no, no ...
Did Ivanka not take her husband’s name when married? I didn’t know that.
If there was no government money involved it is no one’s business.
I thought they looked great.
“Always remember, Ivanka and Melania are women. Mooch is a tranny.”
I always do, and still believe Joan Rivers should get the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously for her courage.
Hurrah! Huzzah! No Wookie pictures! No boob belt!
Do you know who she is?
Melania and Ivanka are the perfect therapies for our being forced to deal with the Wookie’s massive, ungainly ass for eight years. And mind, the people who are trashing Melania and Ivanka are the same people who fawned and slobbered over the circus tents that doubled as the Wookie’s skirts.
Hysterical
Hysterical
I'm so sorry.
Wife of slain police officer. She was with her daughter.
Look at that ghastly woman’s arm tattoo. Disgusting.
Thanks, I thought jiggyboy was coming down pretty hard on the woman just because she has a tattoo. Very judgmental.
If they’re all bent out of shape at a little mild thigh exposure, I wonder what all these “offended” and “outraged” dems think of Lena Dunham slinging her filthy cottage-cheesey undercarriage all over the television screen every chance she gets.
One is a classy woman showing less than what people see at many social functions. the other is a disgusting train wreck driving up sales of eye bleach.
The Trump ladies make me a little warm under the collar too!
