And the courts will not allow people to sue obviously misleading photographs with obvious mistakes. The courts call these kinds of lies, “good marketing/good advertising/good salesmanship”.

The one which bothers me the most is the toothpaste commercials which show a full stroke of toothpaste on the entire brush. If you read the fine print it says, “Put a small bead of paste on the brush,” or words to that effect. The hope is that people will not bother to read the instructions. They sell more toothpaste with their deceptive photographs.

Same idea with shaving cream. It helps NONE to have it lay on thick.

The court case I remember is an ice cream company's ad agency using fine sand in the container while shooting the commercial.

Somebody sued them for misleading advertising, but the courts found otherwise.
