Lost interest when the Basset Hound finished second in the hound group last night. We Basset owners are the Cubs fans of the dog world; our noble breed has only won the hound group three times in 87 years at Westminster, and never won Best in Show.
I’ve lived long enough to witness some genuine miracles; the Cubs winning the World Series; the Red Sox winning it twice and even the Saints taking the Super Bowl. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll live long enough to see a Basset win Best in Show at Westminster.
I think our best hope is petitioning for reclassification in the terrier group.
Go Standard Poodles and Boxers!
Love cairn’s
I understand how you feel! Westie’s never win Best in Show either.
Go Cubs!
Beautiful.
My first GSD was a rescue, smart, tough, ‘common sense’ if he had been a person. It was my second one that was just bred for looks to the detriment of intelligence. Damned nice looking dog, though, and as friendly as they came. Still miss him
Current dog is an American Bulldog. Love her to death, very independent.
I’ll take the worst dog ever over anyone who dislikes dogs when it comes to companionship. It’s all I can do to not start casting aspersions as to parentage, hygiene and sexual practices regarding ‘people’ who dislike particular breeds of dogs :-)
Our friend is showing her top dog Hotshot the Chihuahua ( I can only pronounce it “chee-hoo-a-hoo-a” having grown up watching WKRP In Cincinnati :) )
Winner is Norwich Terrier. Second place Westie, wow.
All right, they’re bringing out the seven finalists now. I like the Irish Setter, but what do I know?
Oh no no. The GS won the group. She is in BIS ring now.
Well , I was close....
GERMAN SHEPHERD WINS!
Only the 2nd, and a girl, too!
She’s a good dog. Yea!
The people who insist on having poodles paraded with those fur balls and shaved butts should have to wear no pants and equally shaved butt while showing their dog.
Oh butt honey, who really wants to see the guy (or girl!) who can grow such a prodigious pouf of hair on their tail & mudflaps - be careful what you wish for!
LOL
[I know, I know...]
And the great Bill Murray, knock on wood.
I know I didn’t want to see that man’s “tail and mud flaps” wagging in the breeze as he jogged that poor dog. I just felt he needed equal humiliation. It is 2017. Why is that disgusting poodle style still forced upon American dogs??
