I just a week or so ago bought a refurbished Dell tower on Amazon for just $299.00. No tax or shipping charges.
It has some pretty impressive specs, including 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 8 GB RAM, 3.2 or 3.7? processor, 6 USB ports, including two high speed 3.0 ports in front, an HDMI port, and 64-bit Windows 10 OS.
Dell Inspiron i3650-1551SLV Desktop (Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD) No Monitor Included:

had some problems with HPS.
although i finally have 2 hps with icore i7 works amazingly so far only problem is battery doesn’t last long on charge.
because they’re liberals?
All these protection programs are the viruses and troublemakers.
I have not had any virus protection in 7-8 years and have zero problems.
Stay away from porn, Russian or German sites and you will rarely be exposed to viruses.
Also, though new, you may have somewhat incompatible parts in your new computer as atrange as that sounds.
Plus HP is considered a bad computer product by most people. Stick with a cheap Lenovo, they work!
I bought a Dell recently, it arrived with a bad DVD drive. I contacted Dell customer service, and they sent me a replacement via FedEx overnight. No complaints at all.
Take it back while you can.
Then regroup. I used to build my own computers. Now I just buy them at Costco. They’ve become a commodity to me. At work we all have HP and they work great. Dell is supposed to be good too. I think they are all good unless you get a lemon or a virus.
I would take the computer back if I were you. You should not be having that many problems. Even with PC.
I picked up an Apple iMac about 3 months ago. I have yet to even scan 1 time for a virus. My boot up time is 10 seconds.
Yes the initial price is steep, but that’s it. After that it has been very easy compared to my PC experience. I was able to easily transfer all my files on to it.
One should also stay away from Russian or German hookers. They too can give you a virus. :)
Stupidity?
IF you go Mac, look at a MacMini - excellent computers at a good price point.

If the product you are looking for is out, it will be back in a day or two.
Best of luck.
Five years ago, I bought an Alienware M18X laptop from refurb [$1300] and it was constantly having issues.
They dutifully tried to repair it, every time something else went wonky but it was never truly “right”, for any length of time.
Last year, Dell sent me a brand new, totally badass Alienware M18 [$4000] to finally just totally replace it.
I can’t say enough good things about their service.
“A” virus? Maybe MANY viruses!
Plus you could get robbed and wake up in a bathtub with both your kidneys removed for resale.
Sometimes cancelling the card is the only way to break those automatic renewal deals. It usually happens to me when my credit card company sends me a new card with a new expiration date.
Unfortunately I can't do that, because it's not on my credit card (they don't accept it). I use PayPal, which I pay by check.
Everything works great and I have to say that I really enjoy using it. Macs are definitely pricey compared to PCs, but this is a good way to take the Mac plunge at a reasonable price.
The video did not simply "freeze." The entire computer froze solid (the cursor wouldn't move) and it rebooted on its own, twice. The first time was with the html5 player. The second time was with Flash.
A computer that suddenly stalls and reboots is not a good thing to have.
So sorry, ZC. Hope it all gets resolved. Best....
Got a new Dell Inspiron 17.3 Laptop with Intel for Christmas and after 3 weeks it would freeze up. Finally had to send it back. Using my 6 yr old Toshiba laptop which is still great.
