Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera quit his position at Yale University after the Ivy League school announced it would remove the name of a pro-slavery lawmaker from one of its residential colleges.
Yale's Calhoun College was named after Vice President John C. Calhoun, a 19th-century slavery supporter and white supremacist from South Carolina who attended Yale.
Yale announced plans to rename Calhoun College after Grace Murray Hopper, an alum of the school and a renowned computer scientist and Navy rear admiral, the New York Times reported. Rivera announced his decision to resign from his position at the university on Sunday over Twitter.
“Resigned yesterday as Associate Fellow of Calhoun College at Yale. Been an honor but intolerant insistence on political correctness is lame,” he tweeted.
Yeah, Dummer University not so cool.

Elihu Yale was an active participant in the slave trade. Why is his name still associated with the university? That’s right - the value of the degrees being earned by the snowflakes attending there would be considerably lessened if the name changed from Yale to Lumumba-Zapata. Money talks, BS walks.

Diana, to be fair, Geraldo is a newsman, an accomplished sailor, a hard-driven’ dumpster diver, and a pretty stand up guy deeply respected by “newspeople” of all stripes. With this move he stands up against political correctness. I think that’s pretty cool.
Well, he’s not my MOST hated ‘journalist,’ but I really don’t think about him much, unless he shows up to promote HIMSELF on any given day. ;)

His father, a Catholic, was born in Puerto Rico, but once he landed on the mainland, and stayed here, he was just an AMERICAN; as are ALL Puerto Ricans!

I guess Geraldo’s leaving is the one good thing that happened because of the name change.Who would want that narcissistic idiot on their board?
Why is there still a Yale University? The name is tainted. The programs are tainted. The professors are tainted. The degrees are tainted.
Seize their assets. Revoke their charter. Demolish the buildings. Give the land back to native Americans. Prohibit the band from playing the Yale fight song.
Yale is going to regret opening THIS can of worms.
JC Calhoun may have been a slave-owner and a Southerner, but Elihu Yale, for whom the univeristy is named, was a slave trader.
