The car ended up with water up to the door after driving into water in St Clears in Carmarthenshire
A driver had to be rescued after he followed his Sat Nav straight into a river.
The silver car ended up in the River Taf - with the water up to the middle of the door - after the driver failed to stop when the road ended and the next stretch was a ford.
The incident happened in St Clears in Carmarthenshire on Friday afternoon and the driver escaped without injuries.
Carmarthen Police said on Twitter: "A lucky escape for the driver of this vehicle. When approaching a ford please remember that your SatNav does not highlight the danger."
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene shortly before 3.30pm on Friday and the man was rescued by the fire service.
A spokeswoman for Dyfed Powys Police said: "Police attended a report of a vehicle, a silver BMW, stuck in a ford in St Clears on Friday afternoon, Friday 3rd February 2017. The driver was out of the vehicle. No injuries reported.
"Police advice would be to always be aware of the environment around you when driving and pay close attention to road signs."
Fire crew from Carmarthen, Whitland and Milford Haven were called to the incident and recovered the vehicle.
A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: " A car had become stuck in flood water and a male casualty was rescued from the vehicle by the Swift Water Rescue Team and wading crew."
A car was stuck for six hours in a water-logged car park
How’s the old joke go?
What the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?
(Google it if you need the answer.)
In the fwiw dept, I’ve ended up in a cow pasture.

Lawsuit!
“At the volcano, turn right!”
The Range where I work is at the intersection of three counties. If you enter the address, GPS can choose from three different locations... none of them correct.
Plus, by a slightly round about route it’s paved all the way to our gate (directions on our website), but GPS will haul you down a very bad road I don’t like taking in my 4WD even when it’s dry.
Reminds me of a certain episode of “The Office”.
Was it May, Hammond or Clarkson?

Using an actual GPS device, I entered the PA terminal for Swift trucking.
The GPS took me to a field, with a church and put me in front of a sign that says “Jesus Saves”.
true story.
Clearly he should have bought a Rangie with a snorkel and not a BMW.
How about half way down a runway!!! In a coach!!
That could suck. Bigly.
Specially if it was an active runway.
I only had cows to deal with.

good thing he wasn’t taking a snooze in a driverless car...
The Lord works in mysterious ways. ;)
So he started off with a BMW and ended up with a ford.
If you had punched in the address of a brothell, somebody’s trying to tell you something.
That photo of the BMW in the creek - by a “ford” I’m thinking of a little ferry boat. Why wouldn’t they just have a bridge over that little creek?
The sign said “FORD ONLY”.
“Well heck, if a dang Ford can go, surely my BMW is good enough.”
Personally I think some of these GPS errors are intentional practical jokes made by liberal programmers because I’ve see so many errors on my GPS units and phones. Seems like many GPS units contain data from Google maps. I can only imagine what Google GPS programmers would pull if they know they wouldn’t get caught. It’s a joke in our household that if I ever meet one of their GPS programmers I’m going to punch him in the face for every time I’ve been driven way off course when there was a much easier path to get to the address. One time I went off course 3 hours in the wrong direction following the directions. After I zoomed out I could see that the route was going in a huge circle much of it in the opposite direction that I needed to go and way out of my way. Ater I course corrected it took only an hour and a half to get where I needed to go.
Turn right AT the river,
NOT
Turn right INTO the river
combine the GPS device with a robotic (Google or Amazon or?) car....
get the Hell out of the way and...
watch the “fun” begin!
