Texas Rangers Called In To Find Tom Brady’s Stolen Jersey From Super Bowl LI (worth 500K)

First it was Deflategate and now Tom Brady is enmeshed in Jerseygate — and a Texas official has the state’s storied Rangers hot on the trail.

The football jersey Tom Brady wore while leading his New England Patriots to a historic Super Bowl win was still missing on Monday — and perhaps stolen right out of his locker, the quarterback said.

Brady told reporters he last saw his game-used threads in the New England dressing room Sunday night in Houston, following the Patriots’ stunning 34-28 overtime win.

“The jersey, I put it in my bag and I came out and it wasn’t there anymore,” Brady told reporters on Monday at a press conference for the Super Bowl LI MVP.

“It’s unfortunate because that’s a nice piece of memorabilia. If it ends up on eBay, let me know.”

The theft grabbed attention of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who on Monday called on the Texas Rangers to help Houston police investigate.

“In Texas we place a very high value on hospitality and football,” Patrick said in a statement.

“Tom Brady’s jersey has great historical value and is already being called ‘the most valuable NFL collectable ever.’ It will likely go into the Hall of Fame one day. It is important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas.”

He urged the perp to give back Brady’s threads.

“I’m a Texans and Cowboys fan first, but the unquestionable success of the Super Bowl in Houston last night was a big win for our entire state, and I don’t want anything to mar that victory,” Patrick added. “Whoever took this jersey should turn it in. The Texas Rangers are on the trail.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought an equipment manager grabbed it to PREVENT it from being stolen??

I heard it on my local radio that a Patriots Staff member saw it and took it and locked it away with the Patriot’s gear.

Don’t know if that’s true .. but I sure hope it is.

Written at the end of the article:

Multiple outlets cited Boston Fox affiliate WFXT, which by Monday morning had walked back from its original story, chalking up the botched report to a miscommunication with Patriots employees.

It's the Patriot employees fault........LOL!

Maybe it was stolen by a simple thief who just wanted a quick buck or a cool memento, but maybe it was stolen by a, for lack of a better word, ‘hater’ who wanted to deny Brady a bit of joy in the win and only wants to destroy or soil the item and leave it on the side of the road as garbage out of spite.

“In Texas we place a very high value on hospitality and football,”

Being from the Great State and having played football, that is true, but not necessarily in that order.

Brady said at his press conference this morning that it was gone.

Someone on Twitter today posted a link to an Instagram account which showed someone last night displaying “some” Brady #12 jersey and it looked somewhat soiled like it could have been used in a game. The user posting of the photo claimed it was Brady’s SB51 game jersey. I don’t know if it was a hoax or not but ppl on Twitter were trying to draw official attention to that account.
