Yes natural talent, divine luck all come into play but the lessons we learn on the field can apply to the greater "games" at work in life and the world. What are some political takeaways from tonight's game? For starters: "It's not over till it's over."
"The defense was tired."
The internet is going absolutely ape chit!!!! I’m so extremely thrilled ....it feels like election night!!! And once again millions upon millions here in the US and around the world got a taste of American apple pie!
There are a lot of things you can learn out on a football field. You learn how to take a good licking and not cry about it, and you learn how to hand one out and not go around bragging about it.
Red Grange
“Anybody else?”
Yeah - don’t call pass plays when you’re in easy field goal range and a field goal will finish out the game. And my 49ers are about to hire Atlanta’s offensive coordinator - the guy calling their plays. Just great.
Lesson? Keep attacking until the game clock reaches 0:00. Never play not to lose.
Russia did it.
LoL
Who cares? Atlanta won the popular vote...
Never give up. Never quit.
Never assume anything.
Never take your opponent for granted.
If you think you already won because more people are rooting for you, you already lost.
Point spreads don’t count. Only the final score counts.
Never, never, never surrender (Quit.)
WTF?!?!?!! And you take a sack?!?!! You don’t throw it away?!?!
I knew and you did too that NE was going to win right there.
Nice holding penalty afterwards.
Seattle throws at the one yard line, now this.
But honestly, if they kicked the field goal i think Brady would have figured a way to win anyway, along with the rest of the team.
I’m a Jet fan so i should hate them, but i dont. They have the best coach and QB in NFL history, even if i dont like the coach
Maybe it was the Rocky Balboa strategy....
It’s not yardage that wins the game - only scores do.
Fight like you’re ten points down, til the final buzzer - especially when you think you’ve ‘got it in the bag’. Overconfidence kills.
If lose, do it with dignity. Don’t blame it on the ‘Russians’.
In politics, you must have a point and purpose in playing the game. If you have no overall message, or no overriding theme to your campaign, you’re going to lose.
You may not always respect your opponent, but never ever disrespect your opponent’s supporters.
Winning is a team effort, which is why you’ve got to have the best team mates you can find, if you want to win the crown. If your team is composed of sycophants, inexperienced wunderkinds, and lightweights, you may as well not even show up on game day.
Concentrate your efforts in the areas where they’ll do the most good. Expending vital resources in areas firmly under your control weakens you in areas where you’re not.
Be of good cheer. A bright, happy, and confident outlook, is sometimes the winning edge.
Great list.
Cools. Can you expand on what you mean by yardage in political terms?
The popular vote is similar to yardage in a football game. Neither one determines the winner.
In presidential races, only electoral votes get you to the White House, and in football games, it's scores that win the day.
This thread makes the same political point — total points scored in the season should determine Super Bowl win, right? It’s like the popular vote!

While President Trump called the Patriots’ locker room to congratulate them on their victory, Hilly Clinton called the Falcons’ locker room: “I know what it’s like to blow a big lead.”
