A long lead-up, but at about the 4 minute mark Merle does Marty.
Merle Haggard & Marty Robbins - Merle Sings Marty - YouTube
I was driving through El Paso yesterday and was thinking about Marty Robbins. LOL.

Did you stop to have a wicked good Mexican combination plate??
Bkmrk.
Love ‘em both.
Nice. I went down there after a visit to Carlsbad in 2015. Kids and swung through El Paso (closest to Mexico I have ever been) and then up through Alamogordo. Guess what I HAD to play? :)
Thanks. Great voice.
Ever drive through Muskogee?
I have been in OK and in the Muskogee area for one day. I went to a very pretty park there called Honor Heights Park. I didn’t have my smart phone back then to play the actual song so I could only sing it myself...and I ain’t no Merle Haggard, let me tell ya.
Funny. I was just explaining the influences singers have on each other and that impersonations abound in their heads.
Many times we imagine what a song would sound like so and so sang it.
I can impersonate Elvis, Johnny Mathis, Sammy Davis Jr., Conway Twitty, Gary Morris, Vince Gill, Josh Groban and more.
Just funny to reimagine a song or funny jokes in someone else’s voice.
Oh, and I do Marty Robbins as well.
But, I ain’t no Merel Haggard
I could only sing it myself.
= = =
Wasn’t thinking about singing ...
"Many times we imagine what a song would sound like so and so sang it."
I often think what a movie would be like if another composer scored it.

Back when I sang semi-professionally I was asked to sing “Don’t Give Up” by Andrae Crouch.
I did not like the style but, knew the director had a policy of musicians following the voice.
I reimagined by Alan Jarreau and kept some deep elements of my voice.
Got to change the tempo as well and it went off without a hitch.
I'll have to look that one up.

Thank you. :)
