I'm thinking of seeing it tonight (Patriot's Day is sold out).
It sounds really interesting, reviews are luke warm. Keaton's performance is generally lauded.
Has anyone seen it? If so, would you recommend it?
Don’t give Hollywood your money.
They use your money to fund their anti-American activities.
I’ve seen it. The performances are excellent, Keaton is superb, the McDonald brothers are not shown as the gullible rubes that some accounts paint them as, and Ray Kroch is shown as a ruthless jerk who screws his wife and the McDonald brothers over in the end. Which, according to many accounts, isn’t far from the truth. Result? A movie I’m glad I saw but “Fences” was much better.
I saw Patriots day, that was really really good. I was sort of dreading that it would be a pro-immigrant movie, but it wasn’t that at all. They really stuck to the facts and focused on the devastation that radical Islamic terrorism that liberals support brings to this country. I can’t see how anyone with an ounce of humanity can watch that movie and still disagree with what Trump is doing, but then again liberals have no humanity.
I almost NEVER go to the movies. Last one I saw was Dinesh D'Souza's "Hillary's America."
Before that, it was "American Sniper."
Oh, yes, I also saw "Joy," which was a wonderful, inspirational movie about determination and the entrepreneurial spirit. OK, it starred leftie Jennifer Lawrence, but it was well worth seeing. (A great movie to bring your teen-aged kids to watch.) I think we should support movies that promote core American values, and that was one of them.
Somehow, I think the American Republic and the Trump administration will survive my spending $12 to see a movie about the founding of one of America's greatest entrepreneurial successes, even though it does appear that Ray Kroc was a ruthless bastard.
But the nice thing about free markets is that if you're going to be a ruthless bastard, you at least to provide actual value to customers in order to get wealthy. (As opposed to ruthless bastard politicians who get rich selling out our nation at every opportunity, and giving $200k speeches).
BOYCOTT HOLLYWOOD
I hear you. I don’t like McDonald’s food and don’t go there. But who am I to say; the market has spoken, and made McDonald’s one of the biggest companies in the world. Clearly the market has spoken and there’s a demand for the product.
So Kroc was a bastard in some ways_? Does that cancel out his business success??
Keaton is a Sanders guy and is using the movie as a talking point against corporate America. I would steer clear
Reminds me of the mini Kroc Biopic by Mark Knopfler, “Boom Like That”. One of my favourites.

FWIW, it has three member reviews on Netflix: 4/5, 5/5 and 4/5.
It’s in my queue, along with Patriot’s Day.
I love their double meat burgers on the dollar menu. Whatabuger is still the king of all burgers and ought to be conquering the world, but the McDonald burger just has a nice taste to it that’s great to have every now and then. Their fries are also pretty good, better than Whataburgers, but Whataburger has great onion rings.
Iloved it. Superb acting. Keaton portrays Kroc as a businessman who had flaws but an incredible drive to succeed. He didn’t honor his word with the McDonald brothers. He became spiteful to them after they would not help him with renegotiating the franchise percentage. They wouldn’t do it out of some spite themselves.
Excellent movie.
McDonald does have the best fries if they’re just coming out of the deep fryer. Sometimes I get a gen for a Filet o Fish and a large fries but I tell the counter worker I need to wait for a freshly made sandwich and fresh fries
Want to see it. Was disappointed in “Patriot’s Day.” Up to the bombing scene, great, but it bogs down a little & stupid “love conquers all” ending just silly given that guns solved the problem. I gave it a B-
I recommend it. I was expecting Hollywood anti-capitalist propaganda, but even though Kroc is portrayed as a bit of a scoundrel it seemed like a fair portrait of him. I found him to be a sympathetic character although my wife disagreed.
There’s no doubt that left to their own devices the McDonald brothers would have just had one successful restaurant and that would have been the end of it.
Just curious, what is a “screener” and what is the website
