Severe Vegetable Shortage Deprives Europeans of Spinach, Broccoli
Heatstreet ^ | 3 Feb 2017 | Kieran Corcoran

European consumers have been plunged into crisis by a vegetable shortage caused by severe weather.

Shops across Europe – and particularly in the UK – have seen the shelves stripped of green produce like lettuce, broccoli and spinach.

Courgettes (zucchinis, if you’re American), aubergines (eggplant) and peppers have also been badly affected.

The problems stem from a blast of cold weather which has overtaken large parts of southern Europe.

why aren’t there large hydroponic greenhouses world wide, especially in starving countries to grow food. Grow your own works.

See! This is what happens when there aren’t enough Mexicans sneaking in to somewhere so they can pick lettuce out of the goodness of their hearts.

Bacon shortage?

The US slaughters over 2 million pigs a week and makes 70 million pounds of bacon a week.

The world’s premier baconfest is coming up in a couple weeks:

Trump's fault!

In 1816, the weather in Europe was so cold that it was a "year without a summer" and crops and fruit did not ripen. In the aftermath tens of thousands of people died of starvation because of food shortages...probably mostly in 1817. The cold weather was the result of a massive volcano eruption in 1815 in the East Indies, Mount Tambura, which ejected massive amounts of ash into the atmosphere.

Shortages of spinach and broccoli are unlikely to have similar effects.

Maybe we should send them some of our excess migrant farm workers to pick the vegetables Europeans refuse to pick.

When I was watching the rioters set fires in Berkley online, my son asked what it was and if it was terrorism.
I said it was college students rioting in Berkley.
Confused look. “Why would they riot over broccoli? They don’t have to (eat it).”
I explained Berkley was a lab and a college in California. They were rioting over a speaker, Milo Yianapolis. And my son remembered the tagline “feminism is cancer”.
Then I had to explain the difference between protest and riot, that hitting people and burning stuff isn’t a protest but a violent riot and illegal.

If they considered trade with Israel, they would get the most tasty and beautiful vegetables and fruit imaginable!

Sadly though, it would be Jewish produce and the Muzzie hoards would refuse it!

I wonder if he BDS is contributing to the shortage. Europe traditionally have gotten a lot oftheir fruit and vegetables from Israel.

Broccoli along with kale, collards, cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi, and Brussels sprouts are cold weather crops. They will survive temperatures in the 20s F. Let the weather get the least bit warm and they’ll bolt and go to seed.

Lettuce and spinach are warm weather vegetables. Zukes, eggplants and peppers are hot weather plants. England is stupid to think they can be grown outside this time of year. Either this is more fake news or there’s been a breakdown in their importation of veggies from southern countries.

>>>>The problems stem from a blast of cold weather which has overtaken large parts of southern Europe.<<<<

Climate Change, formally entitled Global Warming is still Global Warming (the oceans are warming the oceans are warming!).

One effect of Warming? Interestingly enough the Warmists, the ones who are blaming mankind chiefly, or blaming only mankind's inputs into the atmosphere for what small amount of warming there has been (in recent decades) are saying that the Gulf Steam in the Atlantic ocean could weaken...plunging Europe into an ice age.

Northern European chilling? Blame mankind for Global Warming!

Included among proposed cures? Send money to third-world nation hell-hole dictators because minorities and "the poor" are hit hardest (and would indeed be restricted by a plethora of new regulations and restrictions -- decades AFTER North American and European economies will be in many ways hamstrung by the newly proposed regulations).

China gets a Bye week, too. They may agree to restricting their own outputs into the atmosphere (anyone seen the sky over Bejing lately? It's still there you just can't see it for all the pollution Chy-na is pumping into the air, busy as they are working at making cheap junk to ship to the U.S. in continuance of the economic warfare-games they've been playing) won't have to send boatloads of money to foreign nations (to pay for the sin of harming The Erf) for many long years (a couple of decades, at least?)

Screw the Paris protocols -- Accords -- whatever they're called. Keep our money at home, unless we are buying (importing) real materials and goods we simply cannot do without. If it must be Asian, buy Jap, Korean, maybe even Vietnamese and definitely accept goods from nations such as the Philippines.

According to Jerry Rivers (AKA Geraldo Rivera) we will have a banana shortage in the US if illegal aliens are not allowed here to pick them.
