RIP.
The scene you posted where everybody is horrified—is real, the actors did not know they were going to be inundated with ‘blood’ so they kind of freaked out. Gotcha moment, big time!

And Hurt reprised it later, with the line: “Oh no, not again!” Hee!

“I AM NOT A MONSTER!”

That was a tear jerker for me, back in the day.

Midnight Express was the movie that kept me out of prison.

I read the book before I saw the movie. The book is twice as bad.

He got Thomas Moore executed in A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS. ...”Or words to that effect.”

I’m not a big movie fan...but saw Midnight Express in my youth and still recall my heart beating just as loud as the sound effect.

So nice to hear that. He always struck me as humble & unpretentious.

He would even tell us stories that he would come to the US after a role and just drive from L.A. to the desert, like Vegas. ANY American desert in the Southwest. Just loved the wide open spaces we have here. I’ll miss those conversations..

The very best movie he ever made was “Until the end of the World”.

BTW, I looked up “Spaceballs” earlier and its actor’s list has John Hurt as John Hurt. Probably one of those “Uncredited Roles”.

Trailer.

It received poor reviews, but I don’t think the critics realized the psychological impact of watching people become addicted to watching recorded videos of their own dreams.
