My late 2012 mac mini has 4gb of memory and runs the latest OS just fine. Granted I don't do much with it. Just browse the web, check mail, and etc

If yours was on a company network, they would probably take it to the scrap heap..

How much RAM does your Mac currently have? It should work with any Mac of 4GB or above and any with less should be expandable. Which Mac do you have?

imac 7.1. It’s ten years old now.

I freep, and design pcb’s with it using McCad PCB-ST.

I had occasion to email them a few weeks ago and they couldn’t believe I was still running such an old version of their software.

I started out with them using a fat mac in ‘89.

It looks like your machine would actually run the latest OS but without hand-off support. Your Bluetooth hardware is too old. Looks like the latest version of MCAD is $795. I see why you are sticking with what you got.

Thank you for the info. I was confused with a Fidelity Investment pgm that was too large to download. Imagine me getting confused as I get older. Lol.

Have the same beastie. For a ~$100 and just 5 minutes you can swap out the dual 2 GB Dimms with dual 8 GB DIMMs. Make sure you get the 1600 MT/s speed

Gee, Sword, your old heart gets updates, but my mac mini, ipad1, and iphone4s which run beautifully, can no longer be updated. Being old myself, it goes against the grain to replace appliances before they “break”.

Looks like SSD prices have come down as well. Will have to look into it. Looks like I can turn it into a screamer for about $300..

Big thumbs up for Other World Computing (www.owc.com). I bought the kit that mounted a SSD along with the 500 GB existing hard drive. Make sure you have a good Time Capaule back up. Then with this kit and a $100 SSD you can add a 256 GB SSD and make a 750 GB Fusion Drive.

OWC has a step by step color book tutorial that comes with the kit that takes a truly formidable task and makes it easy. Just find a clean table with good lighting and take your time. The result is amazing. I go from off to up and running in 23 seconds from chime to operational screen.

Ditto OWC. I have bought upgrades from them numerous times before retiring.

One of Apple's problems is they build such good computers is they last so long you practically have to beat them to death with a Mack truck. . .

The hard drive crashed after five years (oops). I now have a go-flex backup.

The genius store said if they replaced it, they get to keep the old one. I had a third party replace it and put the old one on my shelf.
