Donald Trumps running war on the media is continuing into his presidency, with statements over the weekend calling into question the extent to which information from the White House can be trusted.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Monday will hold his first daily press briefing at which he could face questions about a statement Saturday night that included demonstrably false assertions about the crowd size at Fridays inauguration and a promise by the new administration that were going to hold the press accountable.
Some Trump supporters will no doubt cheer the continued antagonism toward the media that was central to the Republicans campaign for president. Now the stakes are higher.
Press secretaries have been lied to by their bosses, or misled reporters through the omission of information, but veteran journalist Dan Rather said Sunday it was the first time he could recall false material being delivered in this way. I hope that people will stop, pull back for what we in television call a wide shot and see what is happening, Rather said. This is a deliberate propaganda campaign.

“running war” = “demanding accuracy”
Rather outed Fake News, for that and buckhead we are forever greatful.
AP holding up Dan Rather as a reliable source.
Wow, that is rich!
“Demonstrably false?”
If it is so demonstrable, I notice they do not bother to demonstrate the falsity.
Put up or shut up, and let the other side present their evidence!
Where’s Alicia Machado these days?
The media need to be held to a higher standard then they hold themselves.
ENEMEDIA going with Big Lie strategy.
Problem for them is Bannon read Goebbels book too.
The press are domestic enemies and are aiding and abetting muzlim terrorists and an invasion of the USA by illegal aliens.
Show them no mercy,destroy them.
They are trying to kill us.
If Washington still wants to do something about immigration, we propose a five-word constitutional amendment: There shall be open borders. What about these guys? I know Fartley is gone, but they have not changed.
Seems they’re doing most of this for the consumption of the brainwashed people living in socialistic countries overseas.
You just can’t make this shit up.
I have a theory: Most people living overseas are as smart as most Americans. They don’t trust their own media, and they aren’t disposed to trust ours. They can see through the drive-bys. Especially since most everybody has Internet access and can read the same things we read.
Won’t stop AP from trying.
IF you're going to cite Dan Rather as a reliable source don't forget to include Mary Mapes and her Kinkos Kopy Machine!
From what I see of them on message boards, I wish they did think the same as us, including how they lie against Israel.
By the second “they”, I was referring to their media and their politicians.
Just even mentioning Rather as someone whose opinion is reliable is chutzpah squared.
OK, some can be very anti-Israel. But message boards are overrun with things like that. I still don’t think that foreigners are as stupid as we sometimes think. Evil maybe, but not stupid. Drive-by propaganda exports such as CNN and AP don’t worry me. Besides, I’m tired of caring what the world thinks of us.
