Tony Orlando has joined the list of entertainers performing at galas around Washington, D.C., the night of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

Orlando, who is known for the hit songs "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree," "Candida" and "Knock Three Times," is set to perform at Friday night's Salute to Our Armed Services Ball.

The ball is free by invitation only for members and veterans of the armed services and their families. It will be at the National Building Museum.

On "The O'Reilly Factor" tonight, Orlando said he felt it was his "patriotic duty" to accept Trump's offer to perform.

Wait, how old is that guy? Not bashing him, just can’t believe he’s still performing.

He is old.

Let’s just say that this is not the Dawn of his career.

It was those two obnoxious and insulting broads that really annoyed me during his show, the same theme with Cher insulting Bono. Why is this format common? Negativity is the norm between the main act. One Everly brother walked off during the set because of it.

Insult jokes were really big in the 70’s on sitcoms and variety shows.

Wasn’t he a Ford man in 1976?

“Wasn’t he a Ford man in 1976?”

Big time.

At the 76 Convention he punked Nancy Reagan by dancing to Tie a Yellow Ribbon with Betty Ford.

That of course threw the nomination to Ford and gave us Jimmy Carter and then made Tie a Yellow Ribbon a hit song with the Iran Hostage Crises.

There you have it, all the troubles of the world since 1976 are Tony Orlando’s fault.

In Hollywood, he may barely register. But, as an American, he’s an A-Lister in my opinion. It matters not who shows up for this inauguration, it does matter what they stand for. I’ll take one Tony over 100 Bon Jovi’s, or a thousand Katie Perry’s.

I thought it was the Bee Gees fault.

Good for him. An entertainer who gets it. Imagine that!

The Armed Services Ball would be very special to Tony. He held a Yellow Ribbon Salute to Veterans performance for 20 years.

Tie A Yellow Ribbon came out February 1973 and the ribbons became a symbol of hope displayed by families with a service member in Viet Nam for the next 2 1/2 years.

Decades ago we attended a Tony Orlamdo and Dawn concert. He stepped down from the stage during one of his songs and took our son’s baseball cap and put it on his head and later returned the cap to our son. His voice was every bit as good on stage as on the radio or album we bought.
