Third-wave backlash: Why Trump’s election has fractured feminism on American campuses
Globe and Mail ^ | January 13, 2017 | Simona Chiose

t’s easy to get lost on the forested campus of Wellesley College, the private all-women’s university a half-hour away from Boston. The blue dot on your phone’s GPS is too small and the light thrown by the storybook lampposts too dim for a New England night in the fog of December. A quiet university campus at 11 p.m. is not the most comfortable place for a woman to walk alone, and so at first, you let the stranger behind you move ahead. But very quickly, perhaps after the third or fourth person has walked on by, you notice that they are all women. They feel safe here and so you do, too.

For the century and a half of its existence, Wellesley College has allowed its female students to experience that safety not for one or two nights but for every night of the four years they spend at the college.

The safety isn’t merely physical. Wellesley is a place where, students will tell you, they feel liberated from the constraints that, as women, they take for granted in the outside world. In one student’s words, the place is “an incubator to learn and grow and change … a good bubble.” It’s also a powerful alumnae network – graduates talk about turning to other Wellesley women for advice, not just on careers, but on every stage of life: marriage, children, aging parents.

“It’s kind of like a football team; you are always rooting for everyone,” says Shelly Anand, a co-founder of the online magazine for alumni, Wellesley Underground, and a lawyer in Atlanta. “You come out with a unique mindset and a unique new voice.”

In other words, men are not wanted on campus nor in their life after being in a premiere Snowflake University.

If everyone is the same how can you come out with a “unique” worldview?

I suppose it’s possible but that hardly seems the goal of such a ‘bubble’.

A board just like this at Catholic Edgewood College got designated as a hate crime and the Madison cops called after someone posted a note saying “suck it up, pussies”.

One month they claim that 20% of college women are raped, then the very next month they are fighting for the rights of pervs to use the little girls’ room. Special, expensive kind of STOOPID!

And it being a women-only college for pampered princesses is not sexist in the least. It only serves as a counterweight to all those men-only colleges ...

Oh, wait.

I'd say it was already broken and it took a Trump to expose it.

Except of course if they’re faggots or metrosexual wimps who know who wears the pantsuits in their relationships.

Excellent point like MeAgain’past and current husband, and the wookie, who will be leaving the White House this week.

I ran the 1983 Boston Marathon and I fondly recall the Wellesley girls lining a section of the roadside near the top of “Heartbreak Hill”, commenting on my 40-year old buns. Enough to make any middle-aged heterosexual guy grin a bit.

I had no clue about their politics, but they added a little to the experience.

“an incubator to learn and grow and change … a good bubble.”

In other words, a place where they don't get exposed to any other opinions than ones that mirror their own....

What a drab and dull existence that must be.

Party favours included specially commissioned little wooden hammers with the stamped motto “Wellesley women break glass ceilings”

Interestingly, all of the powerful and successful women that I know, don't rely on party favors with cutesy mottos to make a statement.

They just let their actions do the talking; everything else is simply assumed.

Apparently not all females view “feminism” as requiring that a female automatically vote for a another female, solely because the candidate is a female, regardless of all other issues. Gosh, hard to believe, hey?

So, because there are no men, they are safe? Got news for you babes. The men I know would put their lives in danger to protect you. That’s a real man.
Obviously you don’t want anything to do with real men. So go on with your delusion that all men are rapists.
What you’ll get out of your education is an inability to relate to real men, only to the men of your delusional world, and to learn that “only a woman can understand...”

Thanks to their own liberal rule book, it’s just a matter of time before a transgender man “who identifies as a woman” demands to be allowed to enroll and live in the dormitory.
When that happens and is followed by a big lawsuit, it will be time to buy a big bag of popcorn.

Why aren’t these women learning useful stuff like how to make a samwich and cooking and cleaning and making their men happy? : )

You know if I had to pay the large tuition I would not be distracted by the whiners and get on with my studies so I can make a lot of money after graduating. The whiners will still be whining years down the road and all the men in their lives will be punished.
