Every prospective Catholic school teacher knows, or should know, what the house rules are. This means, at a minimum, that no one is entitled to claim victim status when he purposely violates them and is subsequently terminated for doing so.
Lonnie Billard knew when he married his boyfriend, making it public on his Facebook page, that Charlotte Catholic High School, his employer, would object. He sued when he was fired and is now seeking back pay and benefits, punitive damages, and compensatory damages for emotional distress. He is represented by the ACLU, an organization which is at war with the Catholic Church.
The suit is bogus on several counts. The First Amendment protects religious liberty, allowing religious schools to practice the tenets of their faith. The lawsuit does not cite a violation of state law, and that is because no North Carolina law was broken.
The lawsuit relies on Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, but this is without foundation: sexual orientation was not a protected class when the bill was passed, and amendments by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to include sexual orientation are judicially unresolved.
I know that the Catholic Church opposes same-sex marriage, says Billard, but I dont think my commitment to my husband [sic] has any bearing on my work in the classroom. [Note: husbands are men and wives are women, so if Billards partner is his husband, that would make him his wife, and no one really believes that to be true. The Catholic League does not tolerate fake news.]

I don’t care what it costs the school to get rid of this numbskull, it is well worth twice the price for the good of the kids.
Except for the Bible Study part.
I keep meaning to go to reconciliation because every time I see one of these stories, the first thing that pops into my mind is the image of a 2x4 across the face. And of course there are multiple stories like this daily nowadays. Lord forgive me!
Hope he loses and the school countersues.
Sounds like a good cause for a special 2nd collection some Sunday.
Another fudgepacker that needs to get slapped down.
If leftists were afraid of a severe beating whenever they tried to push their agenda - they wouldn’t.
Just saying...
a good reason never to accept federal funds
to think there are those people out there on our side who had no problem with the homosexual agenda, and their pretend , sham marriage .
Now we see more and more people being sued after we were told that it would not affect us. How wrong they were.
Wha you said: TRUE-— but I don’t think this particular case has anything to do with funding. I’m assuming it was set up by the EEOC or Civil Rights legislation.
They need to stop hiring these attention and lawsuit seeking homosexuals. They are in there to destroy from within and sue right from the start. They can’t even get marriage right.
Thank you Justice Kennedy and the other four liberal hacks in black robes. You have damaged our culture to its core. Let’s hope Trump has 2-3 nominations to replace your sorry arse.
Oh, this. It happened years ago, and he’s just now filing?
One of my friends said Charlotte Catholic was a really homosexual-friendly school. Public high school wasn’t nearly as fabulous.
When we have such a tiny percentage of the population creating such turmoil, trying to overturn centuries of societal norms and mores, in fact, even attempting to overturn the laws of God, nature and plain old commonsense, we are experiencing tyranny of the minority. Pray we soon assemble a judiciary that has the strength and wisdom to throw all this nonsense out and return to the principles and intent of our founding.
Amen!
Unfortunately, we have a President-elect who does not see the homosexual agenda for the evil and danger it is.
Yet, he has committed to appointing judges in the mold of Antonin Scalia. Pray he follows through.
How can you teach in a Catholic school if you don’t believe in Catholic doctrine??
Should a KKK member be given a job in an African-American school???
