The makers of Nutella arent sweet on a recent study that claims a key ingredient of their chocolatey hazelnut spread could cause cancer.
Ferrero, the Italian confectionery company that makes Nutella, slammed the European Food Safety Authoritys claims that palm oil the second ingredient of the decadent spread is more carcinogenic than other vegetable oils when its heated above 392 degrees Fahrenheit.
The agencys report, released in May, caused ripples in the European food community and even led some to boycott the ingredient.

well they dont have to heat it over 392 degrees to process it and the people eating it dont have to either. palm oil is excellent for health, most are cold pressed anyway so they are just trying to scare people away from healthy products.
Stupid story and I’m more worried about dihydrogen monoxide, which is everywhere and can actually kill you.
The records on it’s effects on human life go back millennia...
Almost wiped humankind off the map. Many ancient texts and legends confirm the event.
I’ll keep that in mind ... self, heat sammy only to 350 degrees.
Finished off a jar yesterday. Yum. No cancer yet.
“more carcinogenic”
They’re very specific about the temperature.
How are they defining the degree of carcinogenicity?
And specifically the other oils?
The French would all be dead. When they were kids they had a tartine de Nutella every morning, washed it down with a bowl of hot chocolate.
They probably converted it to Fahrenheit from Celcius. 200 deg C = 392 deg F.
LOL!
Don't heat nutella to 392 degrees and you'll be fine.
Will the Muslims Riot and burn everything down ?
.....Im more worried about dihydrogen monoxide, which is everywhere and can actually kill you.
Yes Indeed! DHMO IS Terrible stuff! one of the most dangerous chemicals on this planet!
Check It Out:
Global warming will eventually raise dihydrogen monoxide to dangerous levels worldwide. People need to wake up.
Certainly. Whenever they learn en masse to count past 392 (someone had better advise whether Fahrenheit or Celsius, too. We wouldn’t want them to become confused, now would we...)
Wow. I read the material from dhmo dot org and now I can’t sleep. What are we going to do? It’s everywhere.
I’m trying to imagine a scenario where you would EVER attempt heat Nutella at that temperature. Totally drawing a blank.
There is no rational scenario. Further many things that use palm oil cold press it, and if nutella has to pasteurize their mixture before putting it in jars that temperature is somewhere around 160-180 degrees.
