America releases its social pressures, anxieties, economic dislocation, etc... in short, common, mostly peaceful bursts.
Free societies allow for constant change, disruption and reformation.
Please like Europe, and particularly places like Japan, with more rigid, top-down statist, collectivist and conformist societies tend to cover over or downplay differences.
Eventually in Europe though, the pressure builds and you get things like WWII or the holocaust.
the lesson? Have more freedom and rule of civil society instead of government - have a more stable society.
Except when they aren’t peaceful... hello civil war? hello BLM?
We shouldn’t white wash this. Man is fallen and doesn’t suddenly proceed to be unfallen even when having entered the land which has had the largest sincere (unforced, no state church, no official religion) gospel presence in the entire world.
However. America’s model has a way of rewarding returns to God that other countries’ model doesn’t. Rebellions against God see a more spectacular disaster in this atmosphere of aspiration to freedom, but the returns see a more spectacular healing too. I think we are about to see the latter happening before very long.
