Lee Greenwood, author (?) of the stupidest line in any song in the history of the world:
And I’m proud to be an American, WHERE at least I know I’m free...
Charlie Daniels as well.
Nugent, kid Rock, Skynard and everyone else not in the hall of fame
He has never done drugs at all.
As the self-proclaimed Motor City Madman, guitarist Ted Nugent fashioned a sharply defined, not-so-noble savage persona, garnering him endless publicity and resulting in multiplatinum sales in the late '70s. Since then, however, Nugent's pro-gun, pro-hunting (he eats everything he kills), anti-drink, and anti-drug lifestyle has proved to be anything but a pose (though he did confess to Behind the Music that in his younger days, he was addicted to women). Opinionated, unapologetic, and always quotable, Nugent is the anti-rock star rock star: "I have militantly defended my quality of life, and I would never compromise it in the name of hipness or acceptability of my so-called peers."
He could do a rendition of The Devil (Obama) Went Down to D.C. 8>)
Don’t know what musicians could be tapped.
They may be some older country artists (before this bro-country hick-hop pap, but there are quite of few heroin cowboys out there from the 70s that don’t like Trump or Republicans).
Lionel Hampton was a lifelong Republican and active in the party but he died in the last century.
Moe Tucker (drummer for the Velvet Underground) is actively a Tea Party supporter but I don’t know if she is still active musically (she will be receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Grammys next year).
The Smithereens were conservative.
The Vandals professed to be but they may just have been trolling the crowds in 2004.
There may be some libertarian entertainers who would throw their names behind it.
I don’t know where Penn Jilette stands/sits or James Woods on Trump’s candidacy or presidency.
Okay ...Ill stir the pot. I DESPISE Lee Greenwood. I refuse to stand for his sappy song. Ill proudly stand for the Pledge or the Star Spangled Banner but I flat out refuse to participate in “Proud to Be an American”. I dont disagree with the song at all. I just do NOT like Lee Greenwood or Country for the matter. That song irks the crap out of me.Does that make me a bad person?
Penn Jilette is an interesting performance artist. Bombastic, spontaneous, asymetric and above it all very flaky. Conspicuously unsettling when it suits him. I would not invite someone like Penn to the Inaug. unless he can present a scripted version of his main message. He may treat it as an evening in Las Vegas.
Lee Greenwood, author (?) of the stupidest line in any song in the history of the world: And Im proud to be an American, WHERE at least I know Im free...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The extra wording is implied and thus unnecessary. And it doesn’t fit into the song.
And Im proud to be an American [in America]
Where at least I know I’m free
Maybe there’d be room for Augie Meyers (Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornadoes...”She’s About A Mover”, “Mendocino”, “Hey Baby Que Paso”) on that stage.
Here are 2 songs he recorded a few years ago:
Obama Blues (2012)
and Obama Pinata (with video) from 2014
Maybe they are. Trump’s probably keeping the performer list out of the press.
And make the three of them wear "Make America Great Again" ball caps.
Just to show them who's boss.
