Court Rules Police Can Legally Execute Your Dog if It Does Anything But Sit Silently
FreeThoughtProject ^ | Dec 22, 2016 | Jack Burns

The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit concluded Monday that police officers are justified in killing citizens’ pets — even if those animals are not attacking or attempting to attack them.

Judges MOORE and CLAY (Circuit Judges), and HOOD (District Judge) heard an appeal from the plaintiffs Mark and Cheryl Brown, of Battle Creek, Michigan. The Browns filed a lawsuit against the BATTLE CREEK Police Department, the City of Battle Creek, and officers Jeffrey Case, Christof Klein, and Damon Young for the death of their beloved dogs at the hands of sadistic cops.

Can we pass the same law for liberals?

This is an issue for lawmakers to decide imo, not for judges to legislate from the bench.

Why would police do something so stupid. There are many pet owners who would make sure it was the very last stupid thing the officer ever did.

Why should dog catchers have the “right” to enter my property without a warrant to check if my dog has a license?

It’s a tyrannous law.

“Here in Ohio we have another stupid law...Dog catchers can enter your property without a warrant.”

The tax assessor’s here in this county of New Mexico just make themselves at home, walking around people’s property, seeing what they can tax more, without any notice, opening and gaining access through gates clearly marked with “no trespassing” signs. Then they take pictures of everything and put them in a file that anyone can look at. So far they can’t shoot the dogs, but perhaps that may change with this ruling

So a civilian killing a K9 is the equivalent of killing a human police officer even if the K9 is in the middle of attacking the civilian, but a police officer killing a civilian’s dog is just fine even if the dog isn’t presenting any kind of threat.

Huh.

Somehow that doesn’t strike me as conducive to encouraging respect for the police.

Are you sure that law doesn’t deal with a “pursuit” issue; that they can enter onto a property that an unlicsned dog has entered onto if they are reasonably in pursuit of such dog, and/or does the law prohibit free running (unleasued) dogs, even if they are on your property.

Regarding the pursuit issue, LEOs can enter onto your property, and even into a dwelling or other building in pursuit of a fleeing felon, )or in some jurisdictions, any criminal they have reason to believe is there,) to prevent the destruction of evidence, in exigent circumstances, (for example if they were to see a fire or hear someone call for help, or receive a 911 call from within...) all without the need for a search warrant.

And more, a bondsman can go anywhere, at anytime, to “retrieve” an elopee.

(Please do not consider the above to be legal advice, as I am not admitting in your jurisdiction. Always obtain legal advice from competent counsel licensed in the appropriate jurisdiction.)

Of Dogs and Men - Official Documentary Trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhxFGq4_u84

“OF DOGS AND MEN explores a disturbing trend in American law enforcement: the shooting of pet dogs. From SWAT raids to simple calls and even visits to wrong addresses, we are seeing more and more incidents of officers using lethal force against a family pet they deem a threat. Are these rash reactions by officers in a system with little regard for our four-legged family members, or are they true peace officers doing their best in a dangerous job? OF DOGS AND MEN investigates the issue from all angles, interviewing law enforcement officers and experts, and taking a journey with pet owners through the tragedy of loss and pursuit of change in a legal system in which the very officers they challenge are an integral part.”

Our tax assessors aren’t that brazen - they call and make an appointment. They have to live in the same community with the rest of us.

Judges that legislate from the bench should be removed from the bench on first offense.

I marvel at how we as a nation have come from a free republic to an unconstitutional, immoral, tyrannical state.

The root of the problem lies within the hearts of men. hey need God, and they don’t even know it.

I also wonder just how much one man will be able to reverse. My sense is that this country is headed for civil war, regardless of its leader and how strong of a unifier he is.

How can unify two trains going in opposite directions? The Tyranny Train and the Liberty Train.

More so, I blame it on the fact, that as a culture/nation, we have collectively *lost* our common sense.
