I've never seen anything like the photographs of the assassination of the Russian ambassador at an art gallery in Ankara, Turkey. A pathological act of bloodletting, terrorism, nationalism, a state of political siege. But in the stark white, pristine setting of an upscale art gallery showing contemporary art, with patrons, assassin, and victim all dressed in elegant black, the photographs themselves look strikingly surreal uncanny, even and, in some very painful ways, beautiful.

My first thought was it did look like it came straight out of a movie.
If it happened in New York’s Museum of Art people would be clapping thinking it an art form.
yes, by all means, let’s look at this on its artistic merits, instead of typical muslim terrorism.....what a stupid article.
The author does call it A pathological act of bloodletting, terrorism, nationalism, a state of political siege.”
The photographer gets my kudos, though.
Even the composition and framing were decent, lighting and exposure good.
He kept taking pictures while everyone else was (rightfully) ducking for cover... that is a set of cajones.
Yeah, Islam is cutting edge....
What a wonderful way to get back in Vladimir Putin’s good graces.
Or put another way. That thin line separating civilization from barbarity is no longer detectable.
I wonder if Trump hits terrorist breeding grounds hard....for example, like somewhere in North Africa (sort of assuming there’s a place somewhere where they congregate)....I’ll be that the streets fill up in Europe with protests against his bombing.
There will be many in private who will be delighted...but the protestors will come out for sure.
Pair of glasses left on US gallery floor mistaken for art
Teenager leaves spectacles on floor of San Franciscos Museum of Modern Art as a prank, leading some to think they were an exhibit
I’m not sure about any stills, but IIRC the videographer pulled out and panned a bit after the shots were fired. Probably trained behavior.
I assume he then promptly bolted.
not a mention of muslim or islam, etc....doesnt count.
Failed performance art. And it’s not a crime. It’s the First amendment.
Lord save us!
Performance art - one showing only...
An example of a thought that should be kept silent.
This type of sentiment is what propagates the disturbing voyeurism in the art community (for other examples Google the artwork associated with pizzagate).
Out of respect for the dead, keep your reverie to yourself.
The author condemns the assassination as an act of terrorism.
Mistaken for art? Huh? And were supposed to assume the writer or reader knows what is art? Meh!
