What makes an American an American?

Interesting post.
Americans root for underdogs (as we once were) but also root for, not just winners, but more specifically "overcomers" as we were (and still are).

We are members of the "Anglosphere" like our British and Aussie cousins, but hold "self-rule" to a much higher standard.
Witness how easily our cousins gave up their firearms, and how vociferously we protect ours.

I thank God I am an American.

Everyone else is just a resident.
