Ivanka Trump will reportedly have an office in an area of the White House typically reserved for the first lady after her father becomes president.
The reports come amid speculation as to what part Donald Trump’s eldest daughter will play in his administration.
Ms Trump has been an influential figure throughout the campaign and transition process, and it emerged last week that she would be taking a leave of absence from the Trump Organisation, where she is an executive vice president, and moving to Washington along with her husband Jared Kushner, who serves as one of his father-in-law’s closest advisers.
Meanwhile Melania Trump, the president-elect’s wife, will remain in New York until her ten-year-old son Barron finishes school.
Those announcements presented the possibility that Ivanka would fill in for her stepmother as first lady.
While that would be an unusual arrangement, CNN reported on Wednesday that Ms Trump will have an office in the East Wing of the White House, in an area typically reserved for the first lady.
The network attributed that report to a transition source, who added that Ms Trump’s official White House title was still to be determined.
While it remains unclear whether Ms Trump will become the de facto first lady, she is expected to continue to work closely with her father after he takes office. She sat in on Mr Trump’s meeting last month with prime minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, and is on the executive committee overseeing his transition to the presidency.

Ivanka has great protocol skills and real class, and would be a tremendous hostess at the White House.
Thought I’d give Levin a try this evening. He was going OK for a little bit talking about democratic vs. republican forms of government. Then he began spitting nails and foaming at the mouth about Ivanka. Turned him off.
As long as she sticks to that. Her views and her “friends” are far from conservative.
Ivanka wants a babysitter, subsidized by the federal government, for all mothers.
Nature already provided one free of charge. She’s called “Mom”.
Ivanka’s been a lifelong democrat until recently and she has some liberal pet causes that she’s bringing to the WH. I’m gonna’ keep an open mind but also a careful eye on what she’s pushing.
It’ll be like having two First Ladies in the White House and both very elegant goddesses.
So Ivanka, Trump’s daughter, will be the ‘First lady’ and let mom be mom. What a twist!
And what’s the downside here?
You start out with Ivanka, and wind up with Melania at some point, perhaps both in the White House.
Trump has a deep bench in his family.
Ivanka will be an aide to the president.She will not always be there but she will be at times.
Melania will run the entire White house as domestic head of her family, the kitchen, service staff, cleaners,etc.and some of the security people.She also has her own business.
Was hoping they would evict the press corpse and give the family office space there. After all, the press corpse has been dead for a while and it’s starting to smell pretty foul. :o)
Get a tractor and smash that veggie garden, then remodel the rooms.
After that replaces the statues this turd put in there, and get the Churchill bust back, and have it on display ever time he makes a speech or press conference.

Did you know that when Michelle’s mom moved into the White House in 2008 she took care of Sasha and Malia for 2 years while Michelle worked?
Grandma Robinson now get a 60,000 dollar a year pension for taking care of an 8 and 10 yo (I think that was their ages).
If Mooch’s mother can live in the WH, I see no reason why Ivanka can’t have an office there.
We’re getting a package deal here: POTUS Trump, Jared and Ivanka. Lovely. If a Dem was pulling this we would rightly be hammering them.
