Did utility work for 30 years.

IMO the drivers were were going too fast for road conditions but if it is a blind hill that should be taken into consideration but not mandatory

The guy taking the video is a total a-hole.
All he should have done is called the cops.
I have delt with jerks like him 100’s of times and it is really tough not to come down out of the bucket of off the pole and punch em in the mouth.

Comcast wont get sued and the techs wont loose there jobs.

I agree...people driving too fast. And I can clearly understand the Xfinity guy saying “Hey, I got work to do here” kind of thing.

On another note, what is with this woman running around in her pajamas? I completely don’t understand this at all. Guess I am getting older and crustier...

Here is a comment from Reddit. No idea if valid:

Directional driller/ Equipment operator with a Flagging certificate for over 10 years here! I have been installing fiber optic and power lines for the past decade on roads just like this. Let me say first off that Combat broke multiple OSHA and DOT regulations here. When working withing any easement that is under 10 feet from the road or working from the road a minimum of 2 signs facing each lane of traffic must be placed a minimum of 500 feet from the site of work. To be a proper Lance closure they needed a roadwork ahead sign at 700 feet followed by a men working sign at 500 feet then a series of 5 cones minimum at the back of the truck forming a wedge from the right of the work lane to the left corner of the truck.
This was incredible. I have never seen such in professional actions and attitudes in my life. As someone who has worked in this field my entire adult life I’m angry and embarrassed that these men call them selves proffesionals.
We are not all like this and I would fire these men on the spot if this was my jobsite.”

“Did utility work for 30 years.”

I live in rural Illinois where we get high winds and ice storms frequentry. Our power goes out several times a year. The utility guys work their butts off in terrible weather. Several years ago a tornado just about destroyed two towns near me. Our power was down. I called to report it but told them I had a generator and a weeks worth of fuel, I’m not high priority. The lady taking the call paused then said “you’re the first call I’ve had where someone was pleasant.”

I was listening to a Chicago radio station while they were recovering from an ice storm power outage. An alderman was on and taking calls for some reason. People were calling and whining about the slow service. This arrogant politician was implying that he was going to use his great influence and power to get those lazy utility workers to speed up things. A woman called in and told him her husband was a lineman and had lost part of a hand to a fatigue induced accident several years ago and if said alderman wanted to get the power on sooner maybe he should go out and work with high voltage in the cold and dark with no sleep. Really tore him a new one!

Absolutely! In both directions I didn't see one problem with visibility. I've survived a lifetime of winters here in Michigan and only had one accident on black ice that was unavoidable.

Comcast wont get sued

People can sue for anything.

Comcast will be sued. The drivers may have been driving too fast but Comcast contributed to the accidents.

At minimum Cones should have been at the the top of the hill to give warning.

A jury will decide if they are at fault.

Also, the guy should have called the police rather than get into a confrontation with the workers.

I bet you’re wrong, and I don’t think the guy was a jerk.

I spent 42 years and my oldest son is working on his 30th year outside plant. Hurricanes and snow storms, it does not matter, people want their phone, electric and gas services back. you and others out busting their hump to make repairs and this, and other “Slugs”, like him think they rule the world.

Bottom line is BAD road conditions, means greater driving skills needed! If a person doesn’t have the necessary driving skills call Uber.
The Girly-man wants to help, go home(safe space) and call the Police!

If retired , Thank you and enjoy it!
