I agree with you. It’s also free speech to beat the snot out of someone who is desecrating the flag you we love and honor.

I propose that there be a penalty of said beat down. $15 fine. Suspended.

Do not disrespect it in PUBLIC?

What someone does in his/her home is their business and generally is not covered by the media.

I agree with you, but the above would be considered hate crimes.

No, they are not hate crimes. Good try.

I was involved in the burning of a flag 2-1/2 weeks ago.

Of course, it was a formal flag retirement ceremony at meeting of a local Cub Scout pack. So fundamentally different from your local leftists and anarchists burning one on the sidewalk.

Yes. The law needs to be changed regarding the flag. No more public disrespect of the flag here.

Well, you can focus on this issue, and while you are doing so, the Left, its cronies and its organizers will continue to cement their control over all aspects of government and society. You will have a Marxist society, but like the Soviet Union, at least they will respect their flag.

Scalia on flag burning;

” In 1989, the Supreme Court handed down a decision in Texas v. Johnson, which found a man named Gregory Lee Johnson had a Constitutional right to burn the American flag during the Republican National Convention.

Scalia sided with the majority in that case, which found the First Amendment protects political expression like setting the stars and stripes on fire. That doesn’t mean the 78-year-old justice likes flag desecration, but it’s the justices’ job to interpret the Constitution, not to pass moral judgment, Scalia has said repeatedly.

“I hate the result [in Texas v. Johnson],” Scalia, who died earlier this year, said at a 2014 question-and-answer session sponsored by Brooklyn Law School.

“I would send that guy to jail so fast if I were king,” he added, then referring to Gregory Lee Johnson as a “bearded weirdo.”

President-elect Donald Trump, who has said he would like to appoint a Supreme Court justice in the mold of Scalia to replace him on the bench, suggested Tuesday that flag burning should be criminalized.

“Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag — if they do, there must be consequences — perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Johnson was with several dozen other protesters when he poured kerosene on an American flag and lit it on fire during the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, The New York Times reported in 1989. The protesters then chanted, “America the red, white, and blue, we spit on you.” Johnson was convicted of violating Texas’ flag desecration law, fined $2,000, and sentenced to a year in prison.

In overturning Johnson’s conviction, Scalia signed onto an opinion written by one of the court’s most iconic liberals, William J. Brennan. Scalia’s vote may have surprised some people, but it was not the last time the conservative justice would shock people in the interest of upholding Constitutional principles.”

Amen.

You didn’t understand my message to you....
“I agree with you...”

Further comment would refer to others...therefor your comment of “Good Try” is wrongfully presumptive. Please don’t lump me in with those assholes.

That was the day I knew this country was really headed downhill...

II was shocked. The Supreme Court decides it’s constitutional to burn the most important symbol of freedom the world has ever known?

It wasn’t long till I started seeing a T shirt with a flag and the caption “Try burning this one”.

I always wanted one but I’m probably too old to be taunting some bozo into a fight these days...It still makes me pretty angry when I see it though, and I laughed when I saw the moron protesting outside a Trump rally, set a flag on fire and was attacked by a cop trying to put it out, he didn’t even realize the cop was telling him “You’re on fire dumbass”...I almost wished the cop had just watched the show...

To go a bit off topic, I see this the same as idiots like the football player kneeling during the national anthem. If you don’t like this country, or the flag we fly, go somewhere that flies a flag you do like. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass. May I suggest Syria? Egypt? Cuba maybe? Try burning their flag...

I support the *strict Constitutionalist* position.

But I'll be the first to try to fix any, and I mean any, disrespect of the Flag. It's in my swamp Yankee DNA.

Yes. The law needs to be changed regarding the flag. No more public disrespect of the flag here.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Supreme Court Justices are entitled to their opinion and I am entitled to mine. And in my opinion the flag should be protected from the abuse of 1st Amendment rights. Is it permissible under the 1st Amendment to recommend the murder of the President or other elected officials? Free speech rights can be used with criminal intent to harm people, and any civilized society has a duty to prevent that. In my opinion burning the flag is hate crime which causes psychological harm to countless Americans. LOCK ‘EM UP!
