ROCK TAVERN - A strike that could have interfered with food deliveries this week to McDonald's franchises in the Hudson Valley, New York City, Long Island and northern New Jersey has been averted.
The 75 drivers, represented by Teamsters Local 445 in Rock Tavern, voted in late October to reject the contract offer made by Martin-Brower Inc. Teamsters representative Jerry Ebert said the company significantly improved the offer after its initial rejection.
"We won much better pay, more time off, an easier grievance process, and a $1000 signing bonus for each driver, among other increases, with no givebacks," Ebert said. On Sunday morning, less than 14 hours before the deadline, the drivers nearly unanimously approved the contract by a secret-ballot vote.
People will still be able to eat sub-par fast food! Yippee!
I like my Big Mac.fries not so much.
They were healthier for you when they were cooked in beef tallow instead of transfat veg oils.
Transgender Vagina Oil ?
Veg oil, not vag oil.
We lived near Rock Tavern, every June the firehouse there just off the Quickway puts on a big car show. WHEW! Good thing we moved when we did! How dare those greedy teamsters threaten to not deliver those nutritious Big Macs /s
Use to get a bag of fries when I was a kid, from a little mom and pop shop, best fries ever.
I haven’t eaten a McD fry in YEARS because of the change in fat.
They used to be awesome-—now they are cardboard.
.
They also changed the fries too, they put an additional cellulose coating on them that makes them absorb less oil.
Good, now they can afford to eat real food. ;-)
And tastier beyond belief.
You forgot the lard, too. 60-40, if I remember right.
Yup. Lard and tallow are far, far healthier fats to cook with.
I remember buying Big Macs for 39 cents. Still like them as an occasional "treat". Now to find a place that has a decent fish sandwich so I can do a double treat once in a while.
Here in Louisiana, but only during Lent, Wendy’s serves a cod sandwich that is amazingly tasty for a fast food joint.
Wendy’s probably does that here too - the nearest one is outside my normal local travels when it comes to picking up a fast food bite. May have to check them out again.
