Sad story.
This is my shocked face.
It is rare but I think in this case the TV movie was better than the original.
the years have not been kind, but “The Shining” was one of the all-time great movies and her performance was stellar.

Supposedly, Kubrick treated her horribly on the set of “The Shining” (and encouraged Nicholson and others to do the same), because he wanted to elicit from her more of the demeanor of an actual battered spouse. I wonder if that pushed her over the edge?

She’s not as skinny as she used to be, it seems.
"The Shining" has some profoundly creepy - at least IMO - little touches that I did not pick up on the first time I saw it. Between it and "Eyes Wide Shut," there was potential for the people involved in both films to get a little too close to stuff best kept at a distance.
