I’m totally confused. What was she born as—a male or female? Because the article says “she’s” transitioning to male now.

Actually the article describes shit several times:


- She was born a boy in the body of a girl.
- A refugee fled to the United States to change her gender to male.
- “Renee” recently started taking testosterone to help with the transformation from female to male.
- Renee says she has felt like a girl since she was 5-years-old. (Then later - "because I don’t have the mentality, the character of a girl.”)
- She has to take high doses of female hormones for weeks and undergo surgery.
- The journey has not been easy, but Renee says, “I was meant to be a dad.”

So, sounds mostly like a chick who wants to pretend to be a dude.

The article's headline is wrong in terms of their own, official LGBT terminology. She has ovaries and produces eggs. Therefore she's a woman She's getting her organs swapped out or retrofitted so she can impersonate a man. Therefore she is what they call a "trans-man."

Not a "transgender woman" as the headline says. A trans man.

That's according to their own semantic rules.

Confused? I think maybe that's the point.
