When I read the below memo I hear a social engineering bureaucrat and not a sailor. Why should the Navy ever adopt uniforms and titles to make it more like the other services or identify it’s self with civilian occupations? I guess I am just too enamored with the distinctive character of the service I knew (WestPac Vietnam 70-71) to ever council young men to become part of this new organization. I was not aware the primary purpose of the Navy was as a trade school to ensure people could find good jobs in the civilian world.

I hope Trump will reverse all this idiocy. I just haven’t seen a lot of willingness to do that, especially with his apparent decision to not prosecute corrupt Hitlery. Time will tell.
