Going a little back into the history of crime, especially crime in America in the recent one century, you will realize that much of it is attributed to organizations run by crime families, where crime in disguised forms is the family business. And, despite the fact that their presence has been fading away, they still retain their power and their authority. Given below is the list of the top 10 crime families of America. Read on!
10. Lucchese crime family: The Lucchese Family is one of the famous five crime families of America. They are Italian and have a strong mafia network backing their business and their lives. Established in 1931, their boss Gaetano Tommy successfully forayed into the trucking and clothing business and has a record of not being caught for 44 years of all this business. 9. Genovese crime family: This family has an interesting history where powers have changed several hands over the years. It started with Joe the Boss, who lost his life during the Castellamarese War, after which Vito Genovese and Luciano took the reins in their hands. 8. Gambino crime family: One of the strongest crime families, Gambinos still have a strong membership of around 250, even though it no longer enjoys the same glory it did once enjoy. The family first got fame during the 1930s and was taken to the peak of success by Vincent, the boss then. 7. Buffalo crime family: The Buffalo crime family, USA, is another Sicilian mafia family that originated during the Castellamarese of early 90s. Stafeno Magaddino was the originator of the family, and kept the business going peacefully, unless, other members planned the assassination of their boss. Philadelphia crime family: One of the biggest operating mafia families, outside the Five Families of America, the Philadelphia crime family gained popularity on the grounds of their violent attributes. A succession of aggressive leaders and their notorious activities has always kept them in limelight. They were involved in everything including extortion, bootlegging, gambling and the like. 5. Detroit partnership: Detroit partnership or the Detroit crime family is considered as one of the most active crime families in America. Two brothers, Vito Adamo, and Salvatore who started their business by smuggling immigrants to Michigan and eventually they forayed into other businesses like extortion, bootlegging, etc. In 1996, 17 of its members were indicted for crime and so began their downfall. 3. Los Angeles crime family: Los Angeles family was another family that gained benefit on the basis of the ongoing prosperity of the bootlegging business. They gained maximum popularity during the 40s and the 50s, but gradually they lost their clout and were restricted to a few street gangs. Does the Clinton Family rate as high as a Crime Family such as on this list, or are they more like a gang (albeit at a higher level) such as the Ma Barker Gang or the Dillinger Gang?
Everyone acknowledges that Bill and Hillary are the Bonnie and Clyde of the last 30 years. The Clinton era has come to a screeching halt.
