Helping my kids understand fascism (vanity)
Google

Posted on 11/11/2016 4:35:46 AM PST by small farm girl

My kids asked for a succinct definition of fascism...here's what Google posts:

fas·cism ˈfaSHˌizəm/Submit noun an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization. synonyms: authoritarianism, totalitarianism, dictatorship, despotism, autocracy; More (in general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.

Uhgg! I gave plenty of "feedback" and hope everyone takes a moment to do the same!

Ping me to this thread tomorrow, I have links on the home machine that explain why the Nazis and Fascists are Leftists. They were Socialists believing in Big Government through and through.

In the meanwhile, see the Hayek quote on my FR profile page. It’s the 3rd one down, two paragraphs.

A better definition:

a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

Google's definition does not surprise me.Liberals employ more fascist philosophy then the right, because disagreeing with a liberal is always tantamount to hate, racism, xenophobia, sexism, misogynist, and every other despicable descriptor available in the lexicon.

I don’t know how old your children are, but I had my 6th grader read “The Red Scarf Girl.” It is about the cultural revolution in China. We had some great discussions about government control over citizens, and how in this instance it started with the children because they were easily manipulated.

The etymology of the word fascism comes from “to bundle” as “to bundle a group.” If bundling a group isn’t the modern day Democratic Party, I don’t know what is.

Fascism is violence against the expression of ideas.

That Mizzou professorette who said “Can we get some muscle over here?” is a practicing fascist.

Just as our children are being and have been manipulated in our public schools for the last 40 years.........

The riots in the streets are a result of that manipulation - brainwashing.

The simplest way to explain fascism to them is to compare it to socialism/communism . . .

In Fascism there is a private sector but the government controls your strategy, not tactics. In Communism they control everything.

The entire economy under fascism is geared towards large corporations, entirely unionized work forces and government conspiring to keep things completely in place until consensus changes.

Small business is completely frowned upon since it is disruptive to the status quo.

I agree. That is why the book was so great - you could see the same things happening today as did during the cultural revolution in China in the 50s. My son is homeschooled, but I made sure to explain to him ways that this is happening in schools today. It made for some fascinating discussions.

Fazcism is not a right wing phenomenon. Insomuch as it is an opponent of Royalism which is, itself, an authoritarian power system, it is a left wing phenomenon.

Read “Liberal Fascism”. Fascism is a form of (big government) socialism. Big government policies are a component of the left, not the right which believed limited government. If you look at the Nazi’s and Mussolini’s actual policies, they were socialist policies. Even a lot of college professors get this wrong (fortunately mine had it right and explained why).

This isn’t exact, or in Italian, but
“Everything inside of the state, everything for the state, nothing outside of the state.”

From one of the originators of Fascism. Gramsci, I think. Who also coined the phrase “the long march through the institutuions”.

See the people out in the street rioting? They are trying to overturn an election their side lost with violence. That is fascism in action,.

Right Wing refers to the traditional European political spectrum.

All that matters when labeling ideologies is the degree of misplaced force along with the relationship between the public and private sectors.

In the eyes of academia/idiot savants, creating laws that maintain an equal playing field and adhering to Natural Law are somehow fascist.

We homeschooled our 8 (27 to 42) before it was cool. With no help from dad other than a promise of a nice car, 3 have degrees (6 total), 2 - Phi Beta Kappa’s, 1 - Summa Cum Laude, 1 - “With Distinction”, and 2 more will have degrees in the next 8 months - also with honors. The other 3 didn’t want college but are very successful in their careers, one a realtor making 6 figures.

We are blessed. God is good.

Oh - wife & I were former public school teachers.

Short explanation:
“Here’s what we believe. Here’s what we say you can say or do. Only say and do these things or we’ll scream at you. Fail that, and a mob of us will beat you or kill you. It is for the best of all.”

Too many liberal churches ally with the state in the hope of gaining attention or money they think is used for ministries or try to influence policy a la welfare to “help others”, and ignore the fact that the state grows larger with their help and eventually shuts them down as rivals.
