Who the h*ll would eat that??? No wonder they went bankrupt. Ill stick to a gyro with extra yogurt sauce and a side of fries...Actually it really is good. Been there done that. Another way of preparing octopus is pickled. The arms are cut up and pickled and served in a salad. It is absolutely delectable. Fried squid is also great.

Having watched octopus while diving for quite a few years, no way will I eat one again. They exhibit too much intelligence, and some will actually play with divers, much like a domestic pet animal.
I have eaten them as sushi a long time ago, and found it tasteless and rubbery, waste of time.

They’re crazy smart, probably close to crow level. There are experiments done where one in a tank observing another having a reward/shock task done to it in another tank learns it exactly and doesn’t repeat the subjects actions resulting in a shock!

Spain’s restaurants serve delicious fried octopus, although they do look like rubber bands! Rota’s not so much; that is, in 1969-1972. ;)

How horrifying and horrible! Why would *anyone* eat that?

I did all of this when stationed at San Vito AS in Southern Italy.
Got into snorkeling early and kept doing it because the water was so beautiful and clear enough that I would tell folks that you could be on the surface in 20' of water, drop a quarter to the bottom and tell if it was heads or tails.
