DELTONA, FL (WKMG/CNN) - A squirrel got into a retirement home, injuring at least three people and prompting a call to 911 on Thursday.
"It's jumping on people and biting them and scratching them," the 911 caller said. "It's still in there, and people are bleeding."
People can be heard in the background asking each other if they are all right.
The attack happened around 2 p.m., the woman telling dispatch people are bleeding and need help.
"I don' t know if we need an ambulance, but we need some care for people here," the 911 caller said. "The people are bleeding."
In the background of the call, people are heard breathing heavily, saying they don't feel well.
The caller finally said people had gotten to safety, in the office and lobby, after the squirrel was thrown out.

They have to make sure to catch and test that squirrel or those poor elderly people are going to go through hell.
It appears the pre-election terrorist attacks have begun...
Technically they can carry it, but it is extremely rare, since the animals that commonly carry rabies have about zero chance of catching and biting a squirrel.
The only word I can think of is, BOOM!
5.56mm
Trapped squirrels goes nuts
That’s what the vet told me when I was bitten and scratched by a skunk I had caught. So I had his bags squeezed and kept Pepe as a pet.
Squirrels hardly ever carry diseases that are transmissible to humans, so that’s not something to worry a whole lot about. As long as they disinfect the bite to get rid of bacteria, they should be just fine.
Squirrel bites can hurt a lot, but their teeth are so tiny, it’s like getting poked with a sharp needle, or a deep paper cut. Hardly any tissue damage at all.
I state my case for open carry in old folks homes...
One other little-known rabies fact is that you don’t have to worry about getting rabies from possum bites. Since possums are marsupials and not mammals, it is impossible for them to get infected with rabies.
I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info. I actually like squirrels and was horrified a week ago when a fox in my back yard got ahold of one. It was awful.
But, again, nice to know.
Are they sure it isn’t a longhaired, miniature dachshund, not a squirrel?
It’s obviously a Republican plot to intimidate elderly Florida voters.
I have no knowledge or expertise in this area, but this squirrel’s behavior does not sound normal. If it isn’t rabies causing the bizarre behavior of “jumping on people” and biting them, then maybe it’s on bath salts or sumpin’. I am assuming the victims were not attempting to corner the thing.
And we thought Obamacare’s death panels would be doctors...
Apparently they don’t. My lower lip was cut by a squirrel when he thought it was an almond and tried to grab it.
I immediately researched it.
I didn’t know that.
They can be nasty little buggers.
Nothing that a .22 won’t cure, though. Or even a good air rifle.
