Why Doesn't Fox News Conduct Their Own Polls?
me | today | me

Posted on 11/04/2016 8:08:01 AM PDT by hollywood

Can someone please explain to me why Fox News always seems to report/reference other liberal networks and papers’ polls? It’s always an ABC or CBS poll, or it’s a NYT or WAPO poll. Aren’t they a big enough outfit to conduct their OWN polls and report them? It comes across as they’re a surrogate for the other networks. Very strange (at least to me).

Just now, they displayed and are discussing a WAPO/ABC poll that shows Clinton up by 3%. Why do they constantly do this?

They have their own poll, I’m sure they will have a new one before the election

They do. When FOX polls show good news for Clinton, they pimp them. When their own polls show good news for Trump, they find outside polls that show the opposite.

Because polls replace the hard work that journalists used to do.
Why go out and investigate a topic from multiple sources when you can just quote a poll and make a story out of it.

They do run their polls - two actually - the NBC/WSJ poll and the Fox Poll (wsj and fox are the same company). In the fox poll they fired Opinion dynamics last summer and went to a curated thing. Anyway, they always show the worst result no matter who puts it out. Further, they always show a head to head two person poll - whatever shows Trump the worst.

There’s a brass pole in the CEO’s office. Does that count?

They do, but I personally don't think that they are any less biased than the others.

There are a number of factions at Fox, and it seem lately that the conservatives have been shrinking.

Wall-ass was on FoxB this morning talking about the hurdles Trump must still overcome. First one being that he needs to win all the states Romney won in 2012. Supposedly that’s a longshot. Can’t bear this man anymore.

They hire their polls done: The Fox News Poll is directed by Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research. That in no way means they are accurate or not fudged.

Yeah because what election coverage really needs is yet another source of completely meaningless unreliable polls.

It’s easier to replace a polling company that is doing poorly than to fix your own polling department that is doing poorly.

It’s obvious to me that the people who write the news scripts at Fox lean left. This also applies to their radio news, although you can spot variation over the course of a day. The left leaners will always highlight the polls that advantage HRC.

I can’t stand any of them. Fox has been off in this house for weeks. Actually, I do like Steve Doocy, Tucker and Hannity but in very small doses. I am so tired of Hannity constantly talking about the how tough it will be for Trump to get to 270. My go to guy is Lou Dobbs.

Thanks for the replies so far, but, the point I was trying to make is: why, when I tune into Fox News, am I being subjected to “the other side’s” poll results!? If I wanted to see those results, I should just tune to ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/etc, right? It just seems strange to me. Also, I can’t remember the last time I saw Fox reference a Fox poll; not even sure if one exists.

NBC does this too. They choose the poll where Trump has the worst result.
