Bob Wilkins! He would have an intermission and interview interesting people. He once had a guy on who was reincarnated as the planet Jupiter.

Saw night of the living dead on that show for the first time, blackula, creature from the black lagoon. It was on KTVU channel 2. The opening sequence was all-time great.

He took that part right after he won the Oscar as Popeye Doyle in the French Connection.

I’m not a huge Mel Brooks film fan, but this one was a masterpiece.

When I was in 4th grade at Hillcrest elementary school in Sebastopol, someone drew a simply frightful picture that was featured on the back of the yearbook. Somehow, that grotesque picture made its way to Bob Wilkins. It would often show up for a few seconds going into commercial breaks. It was a cartoon, drawn in black ink, of some wrinkly guy with lanky hair, huge crooked teeth, and a giant nose featuring a large hairy wart.

His mother thought for a moment and said, “The monster lives in Romania . . . Romania is not near the ocean. He’s going to have to go a long way to get to a boat. Then he has to have money to pay for his passage. He may not have any money if he is just a monster. He may not have pockets. Let’s say he gets a boat to America. The boat may go to Miami. But if it goes to New York and he gets off, he doesn’t know the subway system. Let’s say he gets to Brooklyn. He doesn’t know our street. Let’s say he does find our street. The people on the first floor have their window open. If he’s hungry, he is going to eat who’s ever on the first floor.”

What kid could argue back with logic like that! LOL!
