The Doors.
Well, as Howlin’ Wolf imitators, they weren’t THAT bad...
I got to meet PC briefly once. He said hello to me as I helped a friend set up and audition for the private foundation/scholarship he has established.
“the most overrated bands are The Doors”
I abdo-lutely hated the Doors! Major creepy singer, and really third rate musicianship!
“not as good as Freddie Mercury, who could sing, energise and was a showman, very theatrical) .”
And so gay he freaked me out!
But that electric organ could wail! */s*
Hackett is bringing his Genesis Revisited tour nearby in February. He had already left the band by the time of my first Genesis show in 1978. I may have to check him out.
He was & didn’t admit to it until close to his death. Then again, many lead singers and band members of that era in particular were either on serious drugs or into sexual adventures.
Musically, can’t deny he had an awesome voice and was a great performer.

Wouldn’t blame Diana for having an affair AFTER her worthless husband cheated on her .
“Musically, cant deny he had an awesome voice and was a great performer.”
I deny it! He was a perverted creep. I hated his voice and the band’s music!
Obviously you are entitled to your opinion.
Not too many people can perform a flawless 12 minute drum solo with another drummer- Chester Thompson, live, while singing, like Phil could. Go listen to some Brand X and get back to us.
During the 1985-86 period, I think every other song on the radio featured either his voice or his drumming. Haven’t heard much new music from him.
I got better things to do with my time
I don’t care anymore
D’you hear? I don’t care anymore
I don’t care no more
You listening? I don’t care no more
No more!
You know I don’t care no more!!!
No more, no more.... no more, no more.... no more, no more....
I posit the most underrated band is Steve n’ Seagulls.
As a Texan I respect him for that.
Loved his Cameo in Miami Vice.
Hated his anti-Reagan, anti-Thatcher music video, Land of Confusion.
Reading the book, you realize all of the heavy hitters in rock that have nothing but the highest respect for Phil’s abilities. It seemed that in the 80s EVERYBODY wanted Phil to work with them.
