ObamaCare rate up 53%
Plan Details ^

Posted on 10/25/2016 2:52:10 PM PDT by Degaston

The neverending saga of how the "Affordable Care Act" (aka ObamaCare) is making its mark in the USA continues. The politicians had promised that it would result in lower costs. So where do we stand now? Just 22 months ago I was on the "Bronze HMO 006" plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas with a monthly premium of 193.07. In 2015 the premium changed to 226.57 and in 2016 it changed to 286.29. Today I see on http://www.healthcare.gov that for 2017 its going to be 438.10 per month. That is a hike of 126.9%. Its also a year-over-year jump of 53.0%. Due to a job change (i.e. with benefits; instead of being a contractor) I cancelled my plan and now got a health care plan that's compliant with the new law. But if I were back to doing just contracting I'd be thinking long/hard about doing a much better job of tax planning as it would probably be better to get some "catastrophic plan" and pay the 2.5% ObamaCare tax penalty. See https://www.bcbstx.com/static/tx/pdf/policy-forms/2017/33602TX0460006-01.pdf for details on the plan. Originally the deductible was $6000 but its now $6500.

Welcome to the club of those screwed by Obamacare. My doctor quit the practice of medicine last year, and my family care premiums jumped from $19,000 per year before Obamacare to almost $30,000 per year now. I am paying more for less, with higher deductibles.

I predicted all of this when the idiot Nancy Pelosi was gushing about how wonderful Obamacare was going to be.

I knew for a fact that young healthy millennials would NOT be subscribing to ANY Obamacare plan. They also would refuse to pay any filthy stinking Obamacare tax.

The democrats are stuck with this stinking pile of $hit. Now they can eat it.

When the federal government saw the employee pay portion of employer sponsored healthcare plans exceeded the federal wages withholding amount in the average paycheck, it was time for the gubmint to go into the healthcare business.

It's all really very simple. You don't need some lying bull$hitter from MIT to explain it.

I agree that Obamacare sucks but all this bitchin about rate increases gets me. Hubby has been paying $700 a month for many years now. No deductible just regular copay for everything. If it wasn’t for the huge deductibles for the Obamacare policies those prices would look dam good to me. Mine is $500 per month with a $150 per year deductible.
We have paid these rates for years so Obamacare rates don’t really look out of whack to me.
Obamacare still sucks! Lol

Sorry for you :( But the numbers I have written on this thread are 100% accurate. What’s going to happen in 2017 is that we’re going to see a huge market for catastrophic coverage plans from the private sector in the “smart States” that healthy people can buy that will cover them for a certain percentage over some very high deductible number (such as 20K-30K) and get them pre-deductible group rates. These same people will look for ways to legally suppress income and just pay the 2.5% “tax” while they curse the names of the politicians they blame for this mess. How will they suppress income? We are going to see more people downsizing their cost-of-living and doing more to be self-reliant & organized within their microcommunities. You can raise taxes all you want but unless someone actually has real income, spending, and accumulation of assets they won’t owe any taxes.

We CAN'T. Don't know what we are going to do. We have until January to find something.

Vote Trump!

“How does the jug-eared jackass have a 55% approval rating?”

Obamacare was designed to screw small businesses / self employed. It is doing what it was designed to do. His supporters all get subsidies. Don’t underestimate the jug-eared parasite.

Thank you for referencing that article Degaston. Please note that the following critique is directed at Obamacare and not at you.

Patriots, please keep in mind that citizens can have “government” healthcare if they want it. But in the case of unconstitutional federal Obamacare, the corrupt Washington cartel wrongly ignored that the Constitution does not say “yes” or “no” to things like government healthcare. What the Founding States had intended for the Constitution to indicate about healthcare, and many other things that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly address, is the following.

The Founding States had made the 10th Amendment to clarify that the Constitution’s silence about issues like healthcare means that the states, not the federal government, automatically and uniquely have the constitutional authority to regulate, tax and spend for things like INTRAstate healthcare.

In fact, using broad language, previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified limits on the fed’s power to regulate, tax and spend as follows.

With the excerpts above in mind, consider that a previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that all issues that the corrupt media, including Fx Noise, has argued in favor of Obamacare are actually unconstitutional imo.

From related threads …

Considering the Obamacare insurance mandate for example, regardless what lawless Obama’s state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices wanted everybody to think about the mandate, note the third entry in the list below from Paul v. Virginia. In that case, justices had clarified that regulating insurance is not within the scope of Congress’s Commerce Clause powers (1.8.3), regardless if the parties negotiating the insurance policy are domiciled in different states.

So what unconstitutional Obamacare actually did was to show how corrupt all three branches of the unconstitutionally big federal government are, the feds wrongly not securing the required consent of the Constitution’s Article V state supermajority before establishing Obamacare.

Remember in November !

Patriots need to support Trump / Pence by also electing a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support Trump’s vision for making America great again for everybody, but will also put a stop to unconstitutonal federal taxes and likewise unconstitutional inteference in state affairs as evidenced by unconstitutional Obamacare.

Again, the states have always had the 10th Amendment-protected state power to establish their own healthcare programs, depending on what the legal majority voters of a given state want.

Note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
