(VANITY) Your Liberal (and Conservative) friends DO know Trump is telling the truth ... Don't they?
10/23/16 | A sudden revelation

Posted on 10/23/2016 7:32:14 PM PDT by JennysCool

Excuse the vanity, but I had a sudden revelation Friday that I thought I'd share. A liberal co-worker was going on about Trump's "(expletive deleted) lies" during the debate. I asked him to name one. He said, "That (expletive deleted) about gays being thrown off buildings in the Middle East for one. He just makes (expletive deleted) up!" He laughed and shook his head in the familiar attitude of the self-righteous lib.

"Dude," I said. "That's true. They do that."

"(Expletive deleted)!"

"Look it up."

To his credit, he did some Googling. When I saw him later, he said,"I (expletive deleted) looked that up. That's (expletive deleted) twisted! I can't believe they (expletive deleted) do that (expletive deleted)!"

Which gave me a sudden realization -- nothing major to any of us around here but kind of startling nonetheless. People like my low-information co-worker are so low-information they are convinced Trump is lying or making things up when he is just stating the absolute truth that the mainstream media isn't giving them. I liked thinking that Trump's expressed truth about Hillary and crazy liberal nonsense was educating the low-info dullards, now I wonder just how many of them are so far gone, and don't bother to do the Googling my co-worker did, that they honestly think he's just making stuff up out of whole cloth.

Like I say, this doesn't surprise most of us here, but it's unsettling to think we live now in a society where perhaps a majority of the people are so propagandized they not only don't, but WON'T believe the truth.

End of rant.

Husband’s niece is such a Hillary fan that she won’t speak to her mom due to mom already voting for Trump. This millennial will NOT believe Hillary is for late-term abortions. Niece is in absolute denial. Talk about blinders.

Same goes for my niece. She was a 100% conservative. Went to college at Ball State - majored in film/video production. Ended up taking a lot of feminist courses. Came out of the place a batshit crazy feminist/lib/Bernie supporter. She recently posted one of these pics on Facebook of a cop having his picture taken with a black kid. The text under it said "Why don't you cops stop having propaganda photos taken with black kids when you should really be out stopping other cops from shooting black kids younger than this". Her father posted a comment " Do you REALLY believe this ". Her father is a cop.

KKK were Democrats
Slaves were freed by Republicans. Republicans gave them 40 southern acres and a mule, Dems later took it away. Pres. Johnson gave them welfare and ruined their culture.

Yep. The Rats were always the racists - still are. Blacks come from around the world to Ameria and ask, “what’s wrong with your Black people”? It’s truly a human tragedy of staggering proportions.

Exactly. The only time these people are holy is when they’re holier than thou.

That’s a great story. Part of me thinks the uninformed find things like the Veritas videos and the Wikileaks emails unbelievable because ... They’re unbelievable! But they also must be reasoned with to understand that, while they might indeed be unbelievable, they are the truth.

Completely correct. Remember those kids we all used to play with who always had to be “right” or they would take their ball and go home? Those kids grow up and don’t change a bit.

I had to laugh. Your misguided friend would have thought your mention of “a higher caliber” to be “hate speech” and “macroaggression” as they ran for their “safe space.”

I doubt television stations would run campaign ads with death scenes, but certainly they could be put on the internet.

I have no liberal friends. A liberal sister i do not speak to or trade holiday cards with.

She raised two homosexual sons, my fault somehow, no doubt. Everything else is the conservative's fault.

That was one example. There are others which would not be contentious viewing.

What?
Usually my lib friends refuse to look it up or, when I provide the evidence they reject my sources.
Liberalism = mental illness

Expanding on that idea...

Trump needs a big screen behind him at all times. Images on the screen should correspond with what he is talking about. For example, if he talks about chaos in the ME, the screen can be running an easily visible crawler about 400,000 dead in Syria, and showing images of destruction in Alleppo (or wherever)), maybe that poor Jordanian pilot just before the flames begin, weeping widows, and so on.

This is not for the benefit of the crowds, it is to get caught on MSM cameras, so they can’t avoid the images.

Sorry if that blocks out a few supporters, but there is more at stake...

To the Left, “aware” = “indoctrinated” and “ignorant” = “has rejected the indoctrination”.

Notice how a Leftist responds with “that’s just ignorant” when confronted with any disagreeing viewpoint? It’s a way of dismissing contrary data without having to consider it.

"Seriously, some can’t be educated. But I prefer not to give up on all of them. The reason that some can’t be educated is because they operate totally on emotion. “You can’t reason a person out of something he was never reasoned into.”

This may be the best advice I have found on FR in a while and I am profoundly thankful for it. I have family and friends that I am just not wanting to give up on. It's not a matter of "winning" the argument, but rather wanting to spark something in them that will inspire them to THINK, to break away from the sheeple attitude and think for themselves.

"Converting them with emotion" sounds so reasonable. Having a tendency to approach everything with an analytical mindset, I'm not sure exactly how to go about this. Is there a "how to" book? I'm ready to give it a try. Any advice?

...When [leftists] come face to face with the truth, many are so threatened by not being right, pure, etc. that they cover their ears and start screaming "LIAR"...  They are going to “lie for the team” so they can pretend they were never on the wrong team to begin with...

Nice analysis on a crucial topic.  As I think about my three brothers who are strident liberals, your explanation may partially explain their disgust of all things Trump.

Because they are from the Boston area, I tell them that Tom Brady is voting for Trump.  And because they love the Patriots -- and Brady is the Archangel of the Patriots -- this knowledge upsets them greatly.  They don't quite know how to compute that knowledge, I think.

If we can understand the psychological forces that get people idolizing a particular sports team, it will help explain the idolatry for a political party or position.

A Bostonian from another era, Ralph Waldo Emerson, had some wise things to say on the subject:

Mencken studied political persuasion in an article called Vox Populi.  And I wrote a vanity that condensed, lightly edited and rearranged that article for FReepers: H. L. Mencken Predicted Donald Trump, the Enlightened Rabble-Rouser.

In any case, you've tapped into a very important subject, so I look forward to your and others' comment.

“Also, the King gives away PILES of money, even to Christian countries. He has to as it’s part of the “five pillars of Islam.” You’re talking about zakat....doesn’t involve Christians only muslims.

The millennials do NOT know what’s going on. They are the ones to reach through Facebook and twitter, but I do agree the power brokers on the left are fully aware - lots of them named in the wikileaks, so we now have proof.

This is, in Julian Assange’s words, not an election but a power consolidation. The Saudi’s did give Clinton $50 million, Hillary Clinton DOES know they logistically and financially support ISIL , Qatar too and I disagree with you (I thought everyone had seen this, but do you need the wikileaks email specifically referencing this?)- the Saudi’s need the U.S. - protection.
