I’m surprised you don’t recall hearing this song. It was extremely popular for quite some time. It could be that you just listened to radio stations that didn’t play it. Genius of Love’ is very long for radio play. The song was a Jambalaya of sweet and sour flavorings.

It did not fit neatly into any genre known at that time. What style was it?
Rock?, R&B?, Contemporary, Progressive Pop? What was it? was the question, for those who need labels before they will put it on the air. Many folks from this group were also a part of The Talking Heads, another popular group of that time.

Life totally changed in the 80’s and not as much time spent in the enjoyment of music. There are certainly a great number of tunes that have never been known to exist in this small, little corner of the world. Music changed, life changed and the wheel goes round and round.

Do remember The Talking Heads, but only vaguely. Do not remember anything about this group. nada. In the 80’s there were the radio stations and Much Music out of the CBC on the large satellite dish from which to choose. If not heard here, all was silent. Now ask about Culture Club! That is remembered; or Cyndi Lauper, the Eurythmics, Grace Jones.
