A Pasadena police officer was returning to the station after dropping off an inmate when he noticed a motorcycle down in lanes on the 110 Freeway, said Cpl. Phillips with the Pasadena Police Department.
The officer got out of his patrol car to help but could not find the motorcycle rider until he noticed him trying to get into the police cruiser, Phillips said.
The officer tried to pull the rider out of the car but was thrown to the ground, Phillips said.
The man then took off in the cruiser, Phillips said, but the car crashed on the northbound 110 Freeway transition road to the southbound 101 in the Chinatown neighborhood.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed the cruiser, which apparently struck a tree after driving off the road, with severe damage to the front end.

If the “victim” was minority, the LEO will be blamed for leaving his keys in the cruiser.
Was the car in question white?
He couldn’t ride a motorcycle or drive either.
Sounds like an illegal who couldn’t drive/ride a motorcycle nor drive a car.
Hopefully, he didn’t hurt anyone else in his Darwin farewell.
What a waste of a perfectly good cop car.
Instant karma’s gonna get you.
Well at least it was the cops car that took out the criminal and not the cops gun! lol Black and white cop cars matter!
Prolly jes’ like Barry Soetoro: black and white!
Ya got ta ban dem po-po cars! </sarc>
Other than the costs of the lost police cruiser and the emergency response run, at least this event had a good outcome.
True, that. But probably a lot cheaper than years of incarceration.
