The last missing ship from the Battle of Jutland has been found in the North Sea 100 years after it was sunk in combat with Germany.
HMS Warrior was recently discovered 90 yards under the sea a century after it was abandoned due to the heavy damage it took from enemy shelling.
The Battle of Jutland is regarded as the only major naval battle of the First World War and involved 100,000 men and 250 ships, with almost 9,000 sailors killed on both sides during the 36-hour conflict.

Most interesting.
The reason she hadn’t been found until now was that she was towed some distance from the battle before sinking.
The two other British armored (or armoured) cruisers lost in the battle sank more suddenly under heavy gunfire. H.M.S. Defence blew up under fire from German dreadnoughts and a battlecruiser when she charged past the British battle line. H.M.S. Black Prince wandered into the retreating German line at night, and was destroyed at point blank range from German dreadnoughts.
H.M.S. Warrior was also hit multiple hits by heavy guns, but was able to limp away from the battle, and sank the next day.
If given a choice to go back in time to view an event, I would pick Jutland. Let me watch from a nice safe Zeppelin high above the fray.
Yes. Visibility at times was crappy, but it would have been spectacular.
I like playing “World of Warships.” After my ship gets sunk, I’ll stay in spectator mode to watch the rest of the fight. It’s kind of what a little bit of Jutland would have been like.
Wonder what would have happened if the more reserved Admiral Jellico had commanded the Battle Cruisers and the more aggressive Admiral Beatty the Battleships.
Jutland has been re-fought in history books more than any other battle. It has always fascinated me. I like to ask what if Bearry used wireless instead of flag signals to keep tighter control over the super dreadnoughts of Evan-Thomas’ 5th Battle Squadron. The German battlecruisers m8ght not have been afloat for the death ride that saved Scheer at sunset.
Quite possible. Sometimes what if is interesting. Agree about Jutland refought more than any other Naval battle.
Think Gettysburg gets the credit for land battles.
