(Newser) – Chelsea Clinton is the latest target of internet shaming—for skipping her daughter's first day of preschool. In what Slate is calling a "side-eyed takedown," the Daily Mail published a series of photos of Clinton's husband, Marc Mezvinsky, and nanny with 2-year-old Charlotte. "It takes a village!" blared the Mail's headline. "Chelsea Clinton's husband Marc and their nanny take Charlotte to her first day of preschool—which mom misses to campaign for her sick mom." That would be grandma Hillary Clinton, who was recovering from pneumonia, and who the paper noted also missed the tot's big day. Baby brother Aidan was "presumably home with another nanny," the paper speculated, while publishing a photo of Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner walking daughter Arabella to her first day of kindergarten.
The Mail goes on to chronicle Mezvinsky's day, noting that he was on his phone while with Charlotte and that he later "enjoyed lunch for an hour-and-a-half" with a friend, suggesting that dads can't quite cut it while filling in for moms. Slate's Elissa Strauss calls the article a "remarkably unselfconscious example of mom-shaming." Maria Guido fumes on Scary Mommy: "The whole purpose of this article and subsequent coverage is to remind women that they are somehow going against nature by not being a mom first, all the time."
When the true nature of her illness is revealed– as it will be– it's going to be so satisfying to google up all of the Clinton-fellators who promoted this lie and rub it in their greasy faces...
Wasted effort. The Clintons have no shame.
She deserves all the shaming she can get. She’s so stupid she didn’t know this would happen?
I’m surprised Chelsea and Mrs. Bill did not know that following the child to the school would net them more favorable attention than a mere campaign stop.
A 2-year-old is going to a pre-school?? Yes, they do want children’s minds shaped early and often.

IMO, a 2-year-old is not ready for preschool. Social activities, one-on-one with a friend, yes...school, no.
That’s the real shame.
Chelsea’s priority is getting her mom elected. If not, she and husband and grandma will likely be jailed, leaving Charlotte to be raised by the non-biological grandpa, Bill. (OMG OMG OMG...)
Preschool for a 2 year old is just paying for play dates. There is nothing a 2 year old can get from preschool that engaged parents cannot provide better at home. I guess Charlotte’s dad s too busy lunching and her mom is too busy with the family business to do that.

That David Brock piece from the American Spectator years ago said that it was Bill who dealt with Chelsea, not Hillary. So you’re probably right.

I agree. This is Mom and Dad getting the kid off theor hands each day so they can have more “me time”, i.e. they want a kid, but they don’t really want to be parents.
I imagine it’s the norm in places like Manhattan.
