I have never been able to ice skate, but now that I have gotten to about an intermediate skill level on inline skates, I would love to have a go on ice again.
I get I could do it, but I don’t think we got any ice in NW Floridia.

Ice skating is like snow skiing. Only the edges are closer together. And the surface is typically harder when you fall.
Similarities aside; Wheeled skates were always a problem for me. The dynamics were all wrong, for the most part.
Ahead of schedule and under budget.

These are what I am riding on these days. 84mm wheels. I will probably jump up to 90mm on my next pair.
Skating on these is basically ice skating on asphalt. So far I can skate 17 laps around a regulation size track and field ring. I know I can do more, but I am usually pretty darn spent at 17. Such fantastic exercise though.
I have never skied before though. My brother does in Colorado, so maybe I will get try that one day.
i remember it as though it was yesterday (from NY and my dad was NYPD in Central Park)....we were suppose to go see Don McClean play at the Central Park Music Festival they had every summer (i was maybe in the 6th grade) and there was a massive flood which destroyed everything (this was late 70’s) and the place eventually became such a crap hole because they never fixed it properly they had to shut it down...the music festival was eventually ended and the place closed down- until Trump renovated it...

My instinct for stopping on those things would see me doing a high side header. I ride two wheels at speed on asphalt, but I have some serious disc brakes; I have nightmares about doing a high side on two wheels.

First video is a hockey stop demo.
Second video is Bill Stoppard testing a particular wheel and demonstrating just how incredibly agile he is on his skates. Pretty sure he is a former Canadian hockey player.
I’m not good enough to do any of this stuff. I can’t even walk the dog on my skates, cuz she will run in front of me and kill me.
All I can do at this point is laps around the track to stay in shape, and my best trick is go forward without falling down.
