I’m going to be perfectly frank. Yes, it was in poor taste, Yes, they should not have done it, but it was funny.
The risk that they might make only 10% of the people laugh,
and piss off 90% apparently didn’t cross their minds, and it should have. It was a bad choice to make. This was like an amateur performance done at a Frat party where most the audience is already half drunk.

It’s way too soon to take this event so lightly as a slapstick advertising gimmick. They may have people wondering; “Aren’t you guys Middle Eastern anyway? So are you openly laughing at our tragedy now? Is that what’s going on?”

A laugh riot. Perhaps they can have some child burn victims in their next mattress sale ad.

Was talking with some people recently about the guy who was arrested in Germany for training his dog to do a "Heil Hitler" salute. The same thing applies.
