Despite "Mall Brawls," NAACP Calls Mall's Curfew Discriminatory
BREITBART.COM ^ | 07 SEPTEMBER 2016 | JEROME HUDSON

Starting September 16, the Towson Town Center in Maryland will require a curfew for anyone 17 years old and younger, a measure the NAACP and other organizations call discriminatory. “I think that they need to take a look at how to handle this in a different kind of way, other than just to say they are going to stand at the door and bar people. It’s illegal to do that,” said Tessa Hill-Aston, president of the NAACP Baltimore branch.

The mall’s general manager said the age policy was not spurred by any particular incident, and is meant to improve shoppers’ consumer experience.

As Chris Rock said “There’s two kinds of malls; one the white people go to, and one the white people used to go to.”

How about the brat/thugs’ parent handling it ‘a different kind of way?” Yeah, that was singular.

Same thing here in the Pittsburgh area. Monroeville Mall started doing this after too many brawls as a matter of survival. It was either curfew enforcement or lose their paying customers until they bled out.

They are doing okay now.

It’s interesting that this mall is one of the more upscale malls in the Baltimore metro area, in one of the more affluent suburbs.

the mall manager should just say, “it’s our policy to encourage homework and study during weekdays and in that spirit, we have a curfew on school-aged children after X-o’clock.”

In this case ‘youths’ isn’t a euphemism for just black kids. I’ve been to this mall on a sat evening and there are quite a few rootless white kids there as well. No one was fighting but it was loud.

I’ve come to realize my brick and mortar store shopping centers on four things: food, booze, prescriptions and cat litter. Everything else I either don’t need or buy online if I do.

When I read this story I tried to remember the last time I was in an enclosed mall. All I have is this angry memory is standing in a line of three people that did not move at a Sears during Christmas time. Perhaps six or seven years ago.

True, but it's connected by bus to Greenmount Avenue, one of the crappiest parts of Baltimore.

How about signs saying “ALL MINORS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN”?

Could just say “accompanied by their dad”, that would take care of about 80% of the problem

We all think alike.

Our local mall is 40 miles from our house. By the time you factor in time, gas, traffic hassle... it just doesn't make sense. And that is discounting the fact that the stores are geared towards young people... selling expensive trendy clothing that is just junk. As I said before, one store is dedicated solely to caps. I think the name is Lidz or something equally ridiculous.

The only mall I don't mind visiting is the one right across the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. On the one time we went to celebrate my birthday, we parked in the mall lot, strolled across to pick up our tickets from "will call" and blew time in the air-conditioned mall waiting for showtime. Didn't buy a thing, but at least the window shopping was nice. After the show, the ice cream place in the mall was still open, so we let the traffic clear out while we ate outrageously expensive ice cream, and I have to say it was worth every nickle. Marble Slab Creamery or something like that.

We're going again next week. Loretta Lynn is performing, and she doesn't do that often. How often do you get a chance to see a legend perform? It's my belated birthday gift for this year. Our seats aren't the best but her shows sell out quick so we were lucky to get them, and we'll enjoy the show anyway.

I would never have guessed, buy you can actually buy liquor and drink it right in those church pews they have you sit in. Maybe the birthday boy had a Jack Daniels last time he was there... and maybe he didn't. But he did.

just what i was thinking. or no curfew and a 2100 mall sweep for illegal weapons? i grew up near there and i rarely go back, even for family, given their fascist anti gun laws. i am at the point if i can't conceal carry i don't visit. anywhere which leaves out new england (because i have to go thru NY and the left coast.

My landline phone went kaput 2 days ago. I had a new phone by 6pm the next day. Huge selection and free delivery. Screw the malls.

That's the difference. A group of white or Asian kids rarely gets violent. Certainly not to the point of closing malls due to brawling.

And that’s how it should be everywhere. Unfortunately the moaning of the pervert class has set a bad precedent, that if any so-called victim class is offended or perceived to be, then the wrath of big.gov will be forced on the business owner. I weep for what this country has become.

I don’t understand, when I went there no one was fighting or even seemed angry. Now the videos show fights and the fact that this policy now exists points to more then a few but from my own observations of going there a few times I couldn’t tell if the blacks kids were more likely to fight then the white. That said, the policy is correct, ban them all.

Public transportation was what killed the suburban mall. Case in point: Back in the 1990s SEPTA transit workers went on strike. Shoplifting at local malls declined by huge margins; the King of Prussia mall reported a 70% decrease in retail theft alone. I won’t go to movie theatres that can be accessed by busses for the same causational reason.
