An unusual rural ancient synagogue that dates back to shortly after the time of Jesus has been unearthed in Galilee. The rare find a huge 29 feet long and 26 feet wide room with walls lined by limestone benches promises to add weight to stories about Jesus in the Bible. Most synagogues dating from around this time known as the Second Temple Period - are found in urban centres and this is the first to be found in what was an ancient Jewish village.
The ruins of a synagogue dating back to the First Century AD have been found at the site of an ancient Jewish village. The building features limestone benches that lined the walls (pictured) and large foundation pillars that would have supported the roof

There’s synagogue in Capharnum where Peter and Jesus spoke. It’s basically a big hall maybe 100 people standing and sitting. Enough of the building in tact to get the idea. D0wn the way from where Peter’s home was.
Why does one need to "add weight" to the "stories about Jesus"? They believe Him to be a fictional character?
For certain people to come to faith, they first need strong physical evidence of Jesus’ existence and strong evidence of the veracity of the Bible. After they believe in their mind, hopefully the belief travels the 18 inches to their hert, but first the mind must be convinced.
Belief in Jesus Messiah is, and always will be a matter of faith. This find is yet more evidence that may help lead people to faith.
Praise the Lord for this discovery.
some people never have any visible problem with faith
some people do have to struggle with it
and some people don’t even bother
for that middle group....collaborative evidence helps them a lot
these Israeli archeological finds are VERY GOOD ... they do help a lot of people find faith...and they sometimes help explain or clarify things even for the first group (those who have faith and don’t require any collaboration)
a lot obviously (imho) went off kilter in the first, say, 200 years....... and much has been lost or muddied up since then. These Israeli discoveries help make the received Biblical record clearer and more “real” for many folks who are open to considering or building a good faith life for themselves and possibly for their families too
Been there!! VERY EXCITING!

Very well said.
If skeptics would only be honest and investigate these archeological finds - which all corroborate the scriptures - they would find a new faith in what the Bible reports as fact...and maybe they would find faith in the God of that Bible.
I would like to go. Maybe someday.....
Just how does this discovery add any weight to stores about Jesus? That there were synagogues all over the Holy Land, including in the 1st century? Well, duh, of course there were and archaeologists have found another one.
Unearthing the World of Jesus
Surprising archaeological finds are breaking new ground in our understanding of
Jesuss timeand the revolution he launched 2,000 years ago
Sea of Galilee
Thanx
thank you.. I would love to visit the holy land some day.
My wife and I went without a group. If you are hesitant there are many churches which welcome non-members which have groups going.
I was raised Catholic and I became somewhat of a Roman history buff, but when you’re in Jerusalem you realize the city is a 1000 years older than Rome. You can feel,m the culture, the history and the religions in the air.
If you ever decide to go on your own, freepmail me and I’ll send some tips.
Go while you can still walk.
Best wishes.
