Today Brain publishes a new study indicating that antiepileptic drugs designed to reduce seizures, may also induce psychotic disorders in some patients.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. People with epilepsy have increased vulnerability to psychiatric problems.

However, it is also possible that the drugs used by patients to control their seizures may increase the risk of psychotic symptoms in certain people.

Seizure control or lack of control? Of course, this is of general interest. I wouldn't be thinking of anyone.

Whoever is publishing these videos of her episodes needs to stop the creative editing. Hard enough to discern what’s happening without adding jumpy edits that would make any healthy person look nuts. Just site the raw video.

Oh, this is induced by DRUGS. Not by DOGS. (I was wondering if cats were safer.)

My husband hasn’t been officially diagnosed with epilepsy, however, he had a seizures a few years ago and is now on anti-seizure medication. I can attest that it has greatly affected his moods and ability to cope with day-to-day stress.

He hasn’t had “psychotic” episodes, but I do fear he may have developed some depression/anxiety problems as a result of them.

So yes, Clinton it’s totally possible Clinton is an episode away from hitting the launch button on a nuke.

But, but, but, this is politics. (Actually, you have a very good point but editorializing and sensationalism always come first)

Old story, in patients with epilepsy and thought disorders being co-present, controlling one tends to make the other worse. Think of Shock Therapy being used to treat Schizophrenia, the shock (seizure) made the psychosis better.

Took me a bit to find out what kind of drugs they are talking about... AEDs (anti-epilepsy drugs). Examples: lamotrigine, levetiracetam, topiramate, valpropic acid.

Here’s the actual study referred to:

Chelsea: Grandma would be so proud of you.

What about Grandpa?

I suspect Grandpa wasn’t so grand.

There’s a reason Hillary has a soft spot for children.

I sometimes wonder if all of the brat-control drugs prescribed to Generation Snowflake (the generation sorely lacking experience of parental discipline and corporal punishment) has been the root of all of the mental illness they display, like body dysmorphia (expressed as “transgender”, “otherkin”, and other pretend nonsense), self-diagnosed schizophrenia, bi-polar, and PTSD.
