Sasha Obama, who has lived eight of her 15 years in the luxurious confines of the White House, is learning how the other half lives this summer.
Sasha, who’s using her full name of Natasha at Nancy’s, has been learning the ropes of the service industry at the Oak Bluffs eatery this week, working a cash register, busing tables and prepping the restaurant before it opens for lunch.

Good - maybe she sees the advantages of working her way through life and then decides to become a conservative! That would be justice!
Sasha takes a couple weeks to learn about the Gig economy her father has left the rest of her generation.
Then she’ll graduate from her elite private school, take her own plush gap year, and go off to her Ivy League school to prep for her future career as an elite, living in gated communities with full Secret Service protection in NY, DC, Chicago, and Hawaii.
Typical, but with a twist.........Ten Dollar an hour job costs tax payers a Thousand dollars an hour (really have no idea but sounds about right) to protect a budding young liberal learning to use a cash register.
I dunno, I look at this and then I look at Chelsea, whose first gig was a six-figure “consultant” job straight out of college for nothing but influence peddling. Gotta go with Sasha here. Food service work is hard damn work no matter where you are.

Jobs my kids had when they were in high school aren’t any more - service station attendant, golf course maintenance, washing cars, sales clerk in clothing store, donut makers, etc. Of those jobs that still remain, lot of them are filled by adults who lost their white collar and oil patch jobs. Looked around at the grocery store last week and estimated that the average age of the sackers is early 50’s.
Our neighborhood paper lists teens that are looking for all kinds of work. List now takes up one full page. House cleaning, painting, lawn maintenance, etc. jobs all filled by Mexicans. Finally found a guy who is a Vet that started a lawn care business. Several of us working really hard to see that he has business.
